Child harness question

Just wanted to let those that are looking for a child harness that I found some padded harnesses on www.smallplanetkids.com. Look cute and a little more comfortable looking but not as padded as the animal one. Just an FYI!

When my wife and I had our first child, I swore never to use 2 things; 1. Baby pouch (the thing the baby hangs in on front ot back of the parent) and 2. baby leash (harness). I have been a stay at home dad for 6 1/2 years and never found need for one.....UNTIL NOW. We are now parents of 3 (DS7, DS4 and DD2 (almost 2)). I find myself in the summer at zoos, aquariums, libraries, etc. with 3 kids. A stroller is sometimes impratical, like at a zoo (the kid can't see the animals from the stroller) and it's hard to keep 3 kids in line and you can't hold three hands (I only have 2). I never used it with one or two (we held hands and that was it OR ELSE...lol) but now with 3 kids, I have one and will definately use it at WDW. Just my thoughts.

My youngest (19months) will not let you hold her hand, she has perfected a technique wherby she drops to her knees when you try!

My Ds will do this over and over and over again he will not get up until you let go of his hand. He actually will lay down in a parking lot. Anyone who doesn't like harnesses should come try and take my Ds out for a walk. ;) I am a very strict parent so it isn't like I just let him run free.

I also have anxiety issues and have lost site of him twice this week. Once at our playgroup at the library and once at the museum. He is getting so darn quick. I have to get one of those harnesses.

I have one of the puppy dog harnesses for my son, who cannot travel without running. I used it a few times and I got a lot of looks from people. I am usually never self-conscious, but I guess it bothered me b/c I haven't used it since.....
Isn't it strange that we moms will sometimes sacrifice the well being of our children, just b/c we are afraid of being looked down upon by others? Usually the people that look at you funny don't even have kids!! I'm thinking that I'll bring the harness with me this year, and when people stare at me, maybe I'll stick my tongue out at them or something. :confused3

My son is nearly 34 ... he was a runner and I used a harness with him ... it just made sense. DD 31 never needed one ... neither did GK #1, #2 or #3 ... but #4 (19 months) is a runner and I will be getting a harness for him to wear in Disney this summer.

He'll have freedom of movement, but he won't be able to escape, lol!

I have to tell you I wish I had one for our trip in Dec!!!! Our DS was 2 1/2 and AAAAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhh!!! He was all over the place. Our second to last day there I noticed they were for sale in one of the baby centers at AK. They were the animal ones. I will make sure to invest in one for our next trip for our other DS who will be 19 months.
