i would love to suprise my mother with this but it would be 4 of us. Myself, my mother, a 9year old son, and my 2 year old daughter.

I would like to know if you have seen children or of course brought your own if they are welcome.

I would hate to ruin someone's good time. Thanks

I would think that well behaved children are welcome pretty much anywhere. It really depends on your children. I have a niece who is a very dainty & elegant 4-year old and would love the afternoon tea experience. Other children might find it boring - it's not child-centered like Chef Mickey's, for example.
Cheers!

When we went, there was a little girl's birthday party going on there. The girls were all dressed up and really seemed to enjoy it, they were very well behaved. I would guess they were about 6-7 years of age. And there were moms/grandmoms in abundance as well.

It's not a child targeted restaurant, there isn't room to move around much (tables quite close together) and of course there is lots of china/crystal on the tables that could get easily bumped, but for kids that can sit nicely at a table for an hour or less, I think it's def okay.

My neice (10) would do great while my nephew (6) wiggles way too much for it ;)

I've been there 4 times and I've never seen any little boys there. So, he might feel funny....or not.

My daughter has attended tea at the Grand Floridian twice...first, when she was 2 years old and then again when she was 3. She was pretty well behaved and loves this dainty stuff. On the second visit, she wore her Cinderella dress, tiara, etc. and was treated like a princess princess: .

We really enjoyed our "tea time". Both visits were a very nice experience for my DMother and DD, while DH, DDad and DS went fishing. My DS would have been a bull in a china shop and very bored had he been in attendance. My daughter, however, talks about attending tea with Grandmom again!

Honestly, we have seen other children at the Garden View Lounge, but they have all been girls.

It's pretty quiet in the lounge, so if you little one can sit quietly while you're there she should be fine. Bring stuff to keep her occupied so you and your mom can relax and enjoy your tea.

I'd be more worried about the 9-year-old. The lounge is, well, a really girly kind of place. Fine china, ladies in big hats, etc. If he's at that girls-are-yucky stage, he might be fairly mortified. I remember a boy about that age at the next table during one of our visits who just looked like he wanted to be ANYWHERE but there. He slumped in his chair and pouted for the entire meal.

If there are adults besides you and your mom going on the trip, he might be happier visiting the arcade over at Gasparilla Grill.

I brought my 2 almost 3 year and she loved it. I would no say it's child friendly but it's not child UNfriendly. If that makes sense.
