So my husband and I are expecting our first child. We have been to WDW many times and so we are looking forward to our first trip with the new addition. Sometime probably in two years. We discussed this last night and realized that my family and his family will want to go along to be with the grandchild the first time. What to do? My family are all huge Disney fans and we have gone with them before. His family not so much and our nieces and nephews on that side have still never been. But they talked about wanting to go with us soon (prior to finding out we are expecting).
What do we do? We want to go on our own for thefirst time. At least for part of the trip. I know built in babysitters may be nice for a dinner out here and there too though.
Anyone else have this issue? How did you handle it?

That said, we went for the first time with our just-turned-one-year-old and the grandparents stuck with us most of the time, but not all. I nursed my son (still do!) so I never left him for longer than to go on a thrill ride or two, but the help was much appreciated! IMO you would do best to invite them all and make sure to build in enough "alone" time with just your nuclear family. Another thing to think about is that your child will be thrilled to learn someday that both sets of grandparents went along for his or her first trip, and the pictures will be priceless. You never know how long grandparents will be with us, if you know what I mean. I'm so glad my dad, especially, was able to join us, since his health has been very poor in recent years. My son will always be able to say that he saw WDW for the first time with Papa! We invited both sets but my in-laws declined, and I am sorry they missed this incredible occasion. Personally, I think they are nuts. He is their only grandchild but they claimed not to be able to afford it (they make 4x our income, lol).
Good luck in your decision!
