Child CS credit vs Adult CS credit

I understand that a child must order from the child's menu if the restaurant has one. But what if we are going to a CS place like Boulangerie Patisserie in Epcot - they don't have a child's menu so the child can get the same thing an adult can.

My question is this - if we order one CS meal at Boulangerie Patisserie how do they take the credit off our account? Do they assume an adult credit? Can I ask them to consider it a child's CS credit? Does my 4 yr old have to be the one ordering the food? At a CS restaurant, can just one person from our party order all the food and tell them how to use the credits on our cards?

I'd like to use my kid's CS credits to get the biggest bang - some of the kids' meals listed at some of the places would not appeal to my kids.

Thanks!

If you're on the standard dining plan, there's no issue. Counter service credits are not seperated in the computer, and the enforcement of adult/child is done entirely at the point of sale.

I'm not sure how they're working it on the deluxe plan, since there is no distinction between table service credits (which are seperated in the computers) and counter service credits (which are not). I'm kind of interested in hearing if anyone has experience with this on the deluxe plan yet, since it is an issue we're likely to run into because some of our favorite counter service are places that don't have kids meals.

From Mousesavers:

A few quick service locations don't have a kids' menu. That means you can order any combo or entree on the menu with a child credit. These locations are: Casey's Corner and Pete's Doggone Good Dogs at Magic Kingdom; Toy Story Pizza Planet, Catalina Eddie's and Toluca Legs Turkey Company at Disney's Hollywood Studios; Cool Wash Pizza at Epcot (Future World), Sommerfest at Epcot (Germany) and Yorkshire County Fish Shop at Epcot (UK)

My own note: As of our last visit (Aug '07), Refreshment Port in Epcot (Canada) also did not have a kids' menu. Since this place only serves McDonalds chicken nuggets & fries, it was a hit with the kids. Also, Main Street Bakery doesn't have a kids' menu as far as I know. If they do, no one pointed it out to us! The kids were allowed the same sandwich, pastry & drink that we adults ordered.

Maybe I'm inventing a problem where there isn't one - but I want to understand how it works so I don't get surprised.

For example, we're a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 children. If we're at Disney for one day on the dining plan, we get a total of 4 CS meals to use throughout that day.

First - we go to Main Street Bakery and get 2 Counter service meals. They don't have a kid's menu - so a child would be getting the same thing as a adult here.

Later in the day, we eat at Pinocchio's which does have a kids menu. Are they going to say we've used our Adult CS credits already and the only thing we have left on our account is 2 Child CS credits? And all we can get at Pinocchios is 2 kids meals?

You shouldn't have that problem. As far as I understand, the adult/child cs credits are not seperated on the computer, BUT if you are ordering 4 cs meals at one time at a cs restaurant then the CM is not supposed to allow you to purchase more than you are allotted on your card. If you are a party of 2 adults and 2 children, it will say that on your card. So, if you try to order 3 adult CS meals at one time the CM is supposed to tell you that it is not allowed. Sometimes, people have reported that they were allowed to order more, but I wouldn't count on it since it's against Disney policy. However, if you order only 2 adult CS meals at a time then there's no way to tell how many adult vs child CS meals you have used.

We were on DDP from 19th to 27th Dec. Apart from the first day we got an adult CS for my son every day. There was never an issue. Sometimes we shared 2 meals between 3 so that we would still have credits for the last day. I think they had a kids menu at every CS place we went to and no problem atallordering adult serving.

That's nice to hear. The last time we went (Aug 2006) they weren't strict at all about ordering, but I had heard they are cracking down more, but I guess it's the same as anything. It all depends on which CM you get at that moment.

Interesting. I was all stressed out trying to balance out my adult vs child cs meals (mainly when the pizza was counted as an adult meal, since my kids love pizza). Near the end, I had 3 CS left, and asked the concierge which were adult & which were child, and he told me that they counted all the same. But, I never did try to order more than 2 of each at a time, so I have no idea how that would have worked.

But, if you have extra CS, it makes no sense that you wouldn't be able to order extra adult ones, to me. Yet another way that things that are supposed to make your life simpler end up making them more complicated...

It doesn't make sense to me either. If I am entitled to 6 CS credits because I'm staying 6 nights I should be able to order them whenever I like, even if that means 2 at once. I think the policy is Disney's way around not having to change the computer system again or change the menu at CS places without kids meals. I am curious to know how it works for the deluxe plan where they don't seperate TS from CS.
