Is it possible?

My sister has applied for a passport for my niece (3 yrs old) but hasn't received it yet. It was sent back as the photo was too old-I don't know why they didn't send it in after they had it taken!

We want to go down for the day.

Need a passport for kids too. When we go to Maine we have to show our 3 year olds, and they always check going in and out of USA. Take the passport application to your local EI office they will check it over for free and pre approve it and the photo and let you pay for it there. :thumbsup2 The post office will do this too but they charge $20 for it. We had no problem doing this, but i have coworkers who were unable to enter the states with out passports for their toddler and missed a flight because of this. Remember kid's passport don't last as long as adults but cost less. Hope this helps.

That's what I recall, even children need to have one. My mom thought there might be some way around it.

I don't know when they re-sent it in. Not sure why they didn't get it done at the same time my sister had her's done. I guess they can't go for breakfast tomorrow.

If you're at a land crossing, kids under 16 only need a birth certificate. We travel across the border about once a month, and always use the brith certificates only.

This is from the Canadian Border Services Agency website for land travel.

Canadian citizens aged 15 years or under are only required to present proof of Canadian citizenship, such as an original or a photocopy of a birth certificate, or an original citizenship card. Canadian citizens 18 years of age or under who are travelling with a school or other organized group, under adult supervision with parental/guardian consent, may also present proof of Canadian citizenship alone.

Thank you. I will let my mom know in the morning. It's probably too late to invite them in the morning but good to know next time. I think I will enjoy an nice quite breakfast with my mom on my birthday.

The border gaurds would like you to have the passports as its quicker for them to put the kids in the system, but they dont need one until they are 16 as long as they are traveling with a parent or gaurdian.

Nationality is essential that's why it is too late because they are verifying the information that you provided.

Crossed the border yesterday and the US Border guard never said anything when we passed over the kids birth certificates. It clearly states on the website passports are not needed under 15 or 16.

I just crossed yesterday. All my kids have passports but I asked if they need passports. Just being due the end of July I don't think I'll have time to get a passport before our trip in Sept. He said that as long as their under 16 they only need their birth certificates.

Make sure you dot all the i's and cross all the t's and get the baby's birth certificate info out ASAP when the babe comes along. It took quite a while to get the BC for your youngest 3 yrs ago.
