child AP voucher for a 10 year old?

My mother graciously purchased an AP voucher for my son. (without my prior knowledge or i would have made sure she got an Adult one.)

The problem is that she purchased a child voucher for him as he is currently 9. However, he will turn 10 before our next visit when he can activate it.

What to do?

Hmm, that's an interesting one. I think your best bet would be when you activate it to pay to have it upgraded to an adult pass. You should just have to pay the difference in cost.

Explain what happened when you activate the pass, then let the CM make the decision (they may have a policy), as to whether you need to pay for the adult upgrade.

I was doing reseach on a similar question about a 9 yr old in our family. Wow! What a great present tho.

When my daughter was 9....almost 10, guest relations told me to buy her a childs pass, and that it didnt matter if she turned a year older, it would still be honored. This was 3 years ago....I would call disney guest relations and double check with them. Unless their policy has changed, there shouldn't be a problem. Now my daughter is 11, almost 12 and loves the adult ap because she gets to do "the finger thing"!!!

I would explain the situation as well, let them decide how they want to work it. Just be prepared to pay the difference if thats the case.

The policy is that the age of the child on the first day of entrance into any Disney park determines what ticket they can use for the duration of that ticket. In the OP's case, if you are going to be honest about the child's age when activating the voucher, be prepared to pay the price difference (currently about $60) between the child and adult AP prices.
