How many chances should we give a convicted child molestor? I just read what happened to that poor florida girl. And he had been in prison, convicted of this time of crime. We had him away from kids and we let him go.
I believe for crimes involving kids under 17, one chance and prison for life. Done deal. I would rather several people get a longer sentence then they might deserve then for one child to suffer what this girl did. Is getting something like this passed remotely possible given the recent cases in courts.

I would say that 90% of the population probably feels this way. So why don't we get a law like this passed? How do you start something like that. If I said this is the one thing I want to do with my life, how would I begin?

I agree......but somehow this sems too nice of a punishment.

I truly feel that if the punishment for certain crimes was stiffer, our society would see less of them. I'm not sure I agree with an eye for an eye. I do sometime think life in prison is too good.

I believe the people who commit the most horrible crimes have a brain mis-wiring. Perhaps they have no control over their urges. They know they will get caught and go to prison but just can't seem to stop. Many of them may have been abused as children. So, because of this I would feel comfortable with life in prison. In this prison they could have employment, seek an education, whatever as long as they never can be released or be near a child. The only goal is to keep them from children.
By creating industries where they could be employed the prison could support some of it's own expenses.

And I think killing them is too easy..i think they should sit in solitary confinement for 60 years thinking about what they did..Or put them in then general population and let them *take care* of them for 50 years

The prison system would go broke..The DP costs far more than life in prison,and the money has to come from somewhere..Most likely by realeasing other prisoners who should be kept behind bars

I do not think they should get the death penalty. I'm not cool with the thought of someone innocent possibly being killed.

I agree with you that if someone is convicted of molestation he/she should receive life in prison. I do not believe that people who have a propensity for this behavior can be sufficiently rehabilitated as to never pose a threat. I'm also not opposed to the death penalty for this type of criminal.

The two cases we have here in FL. They both confessed to the killings. Are they still concerned innocent? Jessica was buried ALIVE. Her hands were tied in front and the garbage bag that was placed over her had two holes and her little fingers were sticking out of the bag. That is HORRIBLE in my book. She was the innocent one and look what happened to her.

Stuff the death penalty. It discourages crime less, costs more, ups the ante and generally is a big mistake.

One guilty of child abuse should see life behind bars.

In some ways, that is far, far worse than death.

I think murder should get the death penalty. But if somebody is caught before murder I would support a life in prison sentence.
I really wish we could be more barbaric. The type of death penalty we carry out is no equivelant to what these beast do.
What I'm looking for is an actual law that the majority of the country would be willing to see passed that would ensure that first time offenders are never released from prison to hurt somebody else. By placing them in a prison/work camp designed for sex offenders I would hope we could appease liberals yet still put these creeps somewhere far away from children forever.

I think death or life imprisonment for anyone who had relations with someone under 17 is a bit harsh. What about young adults that have consentual sex with a teen boyfriend/girlfriend?

I'm all in favor of having them serve their time and then those who are a danger to society (high likelihood of resuming their molestation) be sent to a treatment facility for sexual deviants
