When I make chicken soup I don't use a recipe. I just throw in diced chicken, carrots, potatoes, onions and some type of pasta, rice or noodle and use canned chicken broth or boulion cubes. I am wondering how many points would you count for every cup. I would say 3-4 points. Does anyone else agree?

Hey girl I would go with the high of 4 points. Or what you could do is try to figure out how many points the pasta equals at least and go from there. :D

I bought one of those Campbells Soup Selects for lunch yesterday and I would guesstimate that the serving size was a cup or a little more and it was 4 points. It had big chunks of carrots, celery and chicken. Since you add potatoes, rice and pasta, I would think the points would be slightly higher, but the only way really to tell is to figure out the points you put in and divide it down to a single portion.

I would say 4 - 5, most likely.

Chicken broth ranges from 0 to 1 points a cup, depending on the brand.

Two ounces of chicken is 2.5 pts.

A medium potato is 2.5 pts.

And, a 1/2 cup of cooked pasta or rice is 2 pts.

Right there, you're up to 8 points. Probably about half that would make a cup of soup.
