"Chicken exits" on rides

ToT is awesome! As stated previously, my son won't do coasters. We went to WDW on his junior high field trip. I told him ToT isn't a coaster, it just goes up and down. So he did it. I think I scarred him for life. He came off in tears. I felt so bad! So I don't even ask anymore. With that said, he said he might try Seven Dwarfs Mine Ride when we go next year! Woooo hooooo!
just remember that the chicken exit for TOT looks a lot like the ride and the CM is in character so even that could have a bad outcome

He might prefer to just wait outside than have to keep taking the chicken exit.

Then he would be outside for the entire time of his mother moving through the queue line. With using the alternative exit, he can be with his mother and enjoy any preshow things and then the most he would wait is maybe ten minutes at the end.

Love how the chicken exit on ToT is an elevator :)
I had to convince my DS that is was not the ride while my DH and DD were on the actual ride!

But where they put you after taking that elevator at the alternative exit is great. You get to sit and watch the riders come off their elevators that have gone to the 13th floor and have come down a bitter harder than normal :) When I had to do this, I was almost on the floor laughing because there was one elevator where riders were several collage aged young men and a bit more young school girls. I figured the girls would be scared and the guys all macho. The girls ran out of the elevator alright and were yelling for sure. They yelled, "we are going on that again!!!!!!!!" And then the young men. One of them said, "that scared the *bad word* out of me" and another said "we did it so we don't EVER have to do it again." The other young men just nodded their heads and kept walking.

He's 23. As much as I hope my kid was wants hang out with me when he's 23, I also kinda hope he won't want to go through line after line with me just for the pleasure of my company.

I Mean, get a churro. Flirt with someone. Get a drink. Etc.

Maybe he could go ride something else or do something he wants to do while you ride the roller coaster? Pick a meeting place/time.

yep. I just wait outside. I grab a drink or snack , maybe sit somewhere to charge my phone or sometimes I will go on a favorite of mine .

YEp.. my son has used them more than once..

That's fine but it's good knowing that he can go through the entire queue with you. I guess I misunderstood your very first post.

I won't ride elevators unless it's an absolute necessity--a little bit of a phobia...but ToT is my favorite attraction at WDW by a long shot. I would actually be more scared of the chicken exit.

That's totally me too! We have a restaurant inside a Tower here and I'm always freaking out in the elevator but I love the view at the top. The local firefighters race up the stairs every year for donations... Not sure how long it would take me to get up there lol.
