We are going to IOA/Universal in July, my kids and I can't wait to ride FJ, but my mom is not a rider and does not want to go on. Can she walk through the line with us and then get out before its time to board? We'd like her to see everything inside.

I think every ride allows this to happen. My mother is claustrophobic but she always tries to get through a queue. When it gets too much for her she has always just alerted a cast member and as she likes to put it "the wall just opens and there's daylight" lol.

So I'm sure your mother would be able to "opt out" at the last second.

The chicken exit on FJ is where the exit to the now closed castle tour was. It sends you straight down to the gift shop.

The last FJ chicken exit is about 20 feet from the boarding area of the ride so she can see everything in the castle along with you.

Hadn't heard that. Maybe during spring break or over Easter, but as far as I know it wasn't permanent.

Yup, you're right. It closes in the busy season when they need the line space for the long regular queue. Brink of Sunshine should know, lol.

Yes, it depends on crowd sizes :thumbsup2 The availability of the castle tour, because it can change at any moment, is really up to the discretion of the venue. Personally I'd like to see it stay.. it's such an awesome way for people who don't want to ride to see the interior of the castle.

There is a nice child swap waiting area where she can sit on one of several benches where HP movies are playing.

I have walked all the way through with my family, and then waited there for them.

I also have been told the castle tour is closed during a busy time of the day, but then been able to do it later in the day when things are quiet. So if you are told no, come back early evening and try again.

I can attest to this. We just returned from USF/IOA this afternoon. Our first day there, I wanted to do the castle tour with my SLR camera to get some good photos. The wait was listed as 60 min, and I asked if they were still doing the castle tours. I was told that since the wait was so long, they weren't doing the tour at that time.
