Love, Actually...great chick flick!

Love Actually is my favorite--even DH likes it and we watch the dvd every so often.

I liked The Wedding Date but it was a little unbelievable. Would you really fall for a guy who was a gigolo? I mean, is he going to keep on in his current career or go on to something new?

There are some fun older movies too--Katherine Hepburn/Spencer Tracy movies like Woman of the Year & Desk Set or Kate Hepburn in The Philadelphia Story (one of my favorites) or Bringing Up Baby. There's another movie that's from the 80's that I love called "Until September." It's got Karen Allen (from the first Indiana Jones movie) and she's an American who kind of gets stuck in Paris and has an affair with a Frenchman. I might have to pull that one out again myself! Sliding Doors with Gwyneth Paltrow is another one I love.

I just checked Under the Tuscan Sun out from the library. I had never read the book, but I thought it was pretty good.

Amy :)

Another vote for Love Actually, Notting Hill and Sweet Home Alabama. I also know I'm too old to like this movie, but I love A Cinderella Story with Hilary Duff, it's so cute!

Chocolat-Johnny Depp
Dave-Kevin Kline
Finding Neverland-Johnny Depp
French Kiss-Kevin Kline
Under the Tuscan Sun-Diane Lane
Pirates of the Caribbean-Jonny Depp
Laws of Attraction-Pierce Bronsnan
Two Weeks Notice-Sandra Bullock
While You Sleeping-Sandra Bullock
Pride and Preudice-Colin Firth
My Best Friend's Wedding-Julia Roberts
Life as a House (My Life as a House)-Kevin Kline

I like so many that are listed here!

One I didn't see mentioned that I love and will watch any time I see that it's on cable is Four Weddings and a Funeral with Hugh Grant.

My favorite is "Return to Me" with Minnie Driver and David Duchovny. Not only a great romantic comedy, but also two different side stories - the grandfather played by Carroll O'Connor and his cronies are hysterical, and Bonnie Hunt and Jim Belushi as her friends are just the best. I can watch this movie over and over...even my children love it.

I agree. It's a wonderful movie. :)

Most of my favorites have already been listed here (I was really pleased to see someone else mention Circle of Friends!) but I'll add a few more:

Serendipity - John Cusack/Kate Beckinsale
Someone Like You - Hugh Jackman/Ashley Judd
Kate & Leopold - Hugh Jackman/Meg Ryan
Something to Talk About - Julia Roberts/Dennis Quaid

Don't you wish they'd just have a "Chick Flicks" section at Blockbuster? :teeth:

Not many people have seen this one, but I like "A Smile Like Yours" with Lauren Holly and Greg Kinnear. Its a story about a couple who is trying to have a baby and their struggles with that. It's very cute and not at all depressing.

Which reminds me of "She's Having a Baby" with Kevin Bacon. Tooooo funny.

I JUST finished watching "A Lot Like Love" :goodvibes

What a feel good movie!

I don't know if this qualifies as a "chick flick" but Once Around w/ Richard Dryfuss, Holly Hunter and Danny Aiello makes me cry like a baby every time.

I love Something to Talk About. Everytime it is on I get sucked in.

For something a little different -the Aussie version of a chic flic:

Strictly Ballroom - funny with a good love story

Oh, I forgot about Chocolat...excellent movie...and of course, Johnny Depp.

Another vote for Someone Like You- I love Hugh Jackman and it's such a sweet movie (and he's in his boxers!!!)

Someone already mentioned Strictly Ballroom, I watched that a few weeks ago- it's great!

Before Sunrise with Ethan Hawke and Julia Delphy is so romantic and sweet.

Bend it Like Beckham is another favorite!

50 First Dates is great, too.
