Chicagoans - Body found in Des Plaines River

any new info? I know the speculation is Stacy Peterson or Lisa Stebic but was there any info on the 10 o'clock news about when they'd expect DNA results?

They are hoping to have results in the next few days. Autopsy is for 9:30 tomorrow morning and it is a high priority case.

I was just chatting with my crime sleuth friend and she dug up a few more details, the body was not intact, possibly no head, found in underwear and possibly near a blue barrel. Those are the facts she dug up online and from the new/old court tv board.

Remember that guy that was friends with Drew said he helped Drew move out a big blue barrel, from his home, the day Stacey went missing?

I will actually be more surprised, however, if it is Stacey (rather than Lisa) I can't believe Drew would be that stupid to leave his missing wife's body THAT close to home - being a cop, kwim?

the remains are lof the lower torso of a small white female ( reportedly) with underwear as only clothing. The flooding we have had last month caused the river to rise several feet, disrupting lots of things in the river and when it descended the stuff settles along the banks. the blue barrel was located a short distance down river from the remains up on the bank. Drew Peterson has his court appointment this morning to try and reduce his bail to under 1 million, his skeevy attorney feels it is a slam dunk to lower the bail. We also have Lisa Stebic as a possiblilty, and sadly, it could be any poor woman who's case hasn't received the attention that the Peterson/Stebic cases have. IF it is Stacy ( and the autopsy is today but results can easily atke up to a week or more) I find it satisfyingly ironic that Drew is in jail for murdering wife #3 (Kathleen Savio) on completely independant charges than of Stacy...so he would in no way be able to combine his defense/etc. Something about the rains from the heavens and the timeing of all this that make me hopeful that closure is brought to the families...but again, he is SO smug, even today, not a care in the world ( how narcissistic of him) . I imigine it is possible that he did dispose of Satcy in a way that she will never be found, but sure hope not.

I can tell you that the helicopters are flying in and out of Clow Airport like crazy last night and again this morning. I haven't been by the Peterson house today (not my day to drive to school) so I'm not sure if the media is camped out in front of his house or not.

I did hear an interview with Melanie Greenburg this morning with John Williams on WGN Radio and she said that their family as well as Stacy's were notified yesterday. She also said that she hopes that one of their families will finally have some closure but it's too soon to know. She did point out that both Stacy and Lisa were the same size (about 5'2"). During the interview, they talked about a blue barrel. Melanie said that the police did not mention a barrel was found but that another report is saying that someone reported finding a barrel a few days ago in that area.

I read this morning (I think it was on CBS) that the body was mostly bones and weighed about 30lbs. It was not in the water but on the shore. I believe that this was an area that was already searched for both women.


I'm hoping for some type of closure for one of these families.

That was his step brother who has since interviewed saying he firmly believes it was Stacy inside the barrell, and they did dispose of it somewhat locally ( meaning within 100 miles or so)if that story is true by the step-brother. I am not sure if the step brother took a lie detector test, but have no reason to believe the story isn't true. And Crystal Raines...the CURRENT Fiance' (alegedly) went off on a local news reporter last week when he asked he how her jail visit to Drew went..."none of you ****ing business !" Was her classy reply. She is said to be livingwith her children from another guy with her sister or friend, but still an item w/Drew according to her father. All of Drews kids from his past wive's are in the custody( while Drew is in jail) of his oldest son who is a cop in OakBrook , and he has had several incidents himself that have resulted in suspensions from the OB police force. Yep, modle citizens for sure.

In the western suburbs of Chicago, there are two women that have been missing for quite awhile. One is Stacy Peterson of Bolingbrook (her husband Drew is a former police officer now in jail accused of killing his 3rd wife, Kathleen) and the other is Lisa Stebic of Plainfield.

No arrests have been made in either case.

As I said in a previous post, his son Anthony (6yo) has no idea what it going on. He's telling the children at school that his dad is not in jail but is helping teach the cops how to get out of handcuffs.

Sorry. I totally misread the title. Goofy me had read it as baby not body. Sorry. My guess is it is Stacy Peterson from Bolingbrook. I have been following both since I live close by them.

thanks for the clarification Daughtersrus..the whole thing is just........nauseating. I feel for you and your neighborhood who have to deal with this so "in your face"...I am about 6 miles away and can put it all out of my head if needed. Those poor kids...and as far as Ms. Raines is considered..man, just what more does she need to make the light bulb go off? I nkow the guy is promising her a life of a Queen, yadda yadda, if I were the father of her kids I would be fighting for sole custody big time.....and for Drews explanation ( and I can't believe I am typing this) if that is easier for the kids to hear so they can sleep at night and not be frightened of their father, so be it..but you KNOW they are going thru such a trauma.You know what is even scarier? That Drew Petersona nd Craig Stebic are not othe only 2 psychos out there.....scary world we live in.

thanks for the update. I was so hoping it would be one of them. I thought gender was one of the 'easy' things they could identify just based on visuals but I guess not. (male pelvis, looks different that female)

Hopefully his family will have at least some of their questions answered.

From what I am hearing, there was not a whole lot of bones at all. Enough to tell it was human (obviously) but not a whole skeleton.
