My family & I are arriving in Chicago Saturday(June 14). I've been watching the weather forecasts. Will we need coats or just light jackets or both? What about shorts during the day?

Here is the forecast from our best local weatherman:

Saturday
80
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
63 Variably cloudy, fairly warm with moderate humidity. Scattered thunderstorms can't be ruled out, especially south.

Sunday
74
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
58 Partly sunny and cooler with northeast winds. Highs hold to the 60s lakeshore, but make it to the low 70s inland.

Monday
80
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
62 A good deal of sunshine. Light winds turn easterly, lowering lakeshore temperatures. Inland high: 80degrees.

Tuesday
82
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
64 Partly cloudy, warm, moderate humidity. Winds veer southeast holding temperatures to the low 70s near the lake.

Since you are coming from Texas, you might want a light jacket if you are going out in the evening, but other than that, you are getting some of the best weather we have had all summer!

I was in Chicago this past weekend and the temps were about like that but it was a bit chilly at night - if it's windy you will need a light jacket. Shorts during the day will be a must unless you are going to be going into the museums and those tend to be cool with the air conditioning.

BRING BUG SPRAY if you are going to be out at night especially around Navy Pier or the Grant Park area - anyplace probably. The mosquitos around here are VERY heavy for this time of year. Actually not only at night but very early in the day too around grassy areas.

HAVE FUN!

it's supposed to be warmer, but knowing Chicago who knows. I always take a sweatshirt or hoodie with me wherever I go right now. If you're near the lake where it's windy, you will probably need a jacket.

You're from TX, so it may cooler to you than it is for us up here. My best friend from Houston visits now and then, and she is always wearing a jacket... she always says "hey, i'm from Texas and this Chicago weather is not at all what I"m used to". hehe. Have a great trip! I love Chicago!

Bring a jacket. A windbreaker would be best in case it does rain a bit. Enjoy your visit.:D
