As a devoted lover of Chicago style pizza, I think I now have a new favorite. I have always liked the "big three": Pizzeria Uno (or Due), Lou Malnati's, and Gino's East. But a couple of years ago when I was staying in downtown Chicago on business, I discovered another player in the game. Just to be sure, I had their pizza again on a trip last year, and then had their pizza again this past weekend. My new favorite (or at least one that I really, really, like) is Pizano's. I have only eaten at the one at 61 E. Madison, but there is one in Wrigleyville and one further north on State Street I believe. The pizza has all of the great crust characteristics of the great legends of Chicago style pizza, but is much lighter in terms of tomatoes and seems a bit heavier on the cheese. Very, very tasty. Anyone else tried it? BTW, Pizano's is Rudy Malnati, Jr.'s place. He's apparently the brother of Lou Malnati and the son of Rudy Malnati, Sr. who was cofounder of Pizzeria Uno.
