DF on DCL cruise this week. Will be flying into O'Hare. Does anyone know if there is a place to wait for her flight in the terminal itself? DH and I thought we may arrive early and have lunch while we wait for her. Dropped her off earlier this week and after checking in, she went right through security. We could not go with her. Ended up going right back to the parking lot and leaving.

TIA,
Nancy :)

Don't think you can enter the terminal without a ticket. I know it's been that way at our airport at home since 9/11.

Just wondering. In Milwaukee we can actually go all the way into the airport shops and restaurants. Security actually begins at the gates to the planes.

:confused3

You can wait for them in the luggage pickup, but no food there. Only after going thru security.
:guilty:

The last time I flew through O'Hare security was right there, just past ticketing. The Hilton is right there, you might want to stop there. It is connected to the International terminal.

Thanks everyone. I guess we'll just have to find a restaurant before getting to the airport. Or....that Hilton idea sounds good too.

My parents have often picked us up at O'hare and since there isn't anywhere decent to wait at the airport now, they stop at the oasis right before the airport on the tollway. They wait there (and have a snack - there is a food court & I know Crispy Creme is there...) until our plane lands. We call them from the cell phone and then they finish driving into the airport.

I hope that helps.

Chicago-O'Hare has all sorts of good options for counter service and table service meals -- but these options are all on the secure side of the TSA checkpoints (with a few exceptions, such as Starbucks in the baggage claim area of terminal 3 and McDonald's on the lower level of the international terminal).

You can get to the Hilton Chicago O'Hare Airport Hotel from O'Hare terminals 1, 2, and 3 through underground corridors with moving belts. (Despite an earlier post in this thread, the Hilton is not connected to the international terminal, but you can get to the Hilton from the international terminal if you take the "ATS" train.) Although I've never dined at the Hilton Chicago O'Hare, I agree that it's the best choice for dining outside of the secure area at O'Hare -- because the Hilton offers the only real sit-down dining.

Pdarrah....the oasis sounds just fine. We stopped there on the way back to Milwaukee. Only thing open was Starbucks and Auntie Annes. Now that's what I call "The Breakfast of Champions" . Coffee strong enough to put hair on your chest and a pretzel with cheese!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Thanks again everyone!!

We have stayed at the Hilton a few times when we have had to be at the airport at 4:00 am for an international flight.

They have a nice restaurant, but it is rather expensive, but there is a bar area just before it that offers sandwichs and such for a much better price.

I don't know which highway that you're going on to get to O'hare, but I was just there this weekend. The oasis on I90 just before the airport is under construction & only the gas station is open, none of the restaurants. But, I believe that the oasis going north on I294 is open. Just a head up.
