Chicago, Niagara, Hershey, Sandusky...help

If your interested, I have tix to the Renaissance faire. Not far from Hershey area....(I think it goes every weekend through October).

It sounds like fun. I'm not 100% sure we'll have time to go there, but I would sure try and pass them on if we don't end up being able to get there.

Looks like you changed your schedule from Hershey Park to Dutch Wonderland.

I am going to be the voice of dissent. Hershey Park is lots more fun than Dutch Wonderland. There are plenty of kiddie rides at Hershey Park for the small ones.... and your seven year old really is too old for Dutch Wonderland.

However, if you stick with Dutch Wonderland... then don't stay in Hershey. There is absolutely no reason to stay in Hershey if all your activities are in Lancaster.

Second, on the Amish Country... I really don't think you need more than one day. Truly.

I would absolutely cut that down to one day at Amish Country, and use the other day and a half for Gettysburg.

If you find you want a little more time around Sandusky, there are plenty of things to do besides Cedar Point. Which is quite fun, but we find we can cover that whole park in a day if we go on weekday rather than a weekend. There is a little drive through animal park called African Safari Park in Port Clinton, not far from CP. You drive your own car through and the animals will come right up (an often INTO) your car. The kids get a kick out of it. It doesn't take long to go through....but you can take as long as you want and drive through as many times as you want. A few miles away you can get the Miller Ferry to Put-In-Bay, a cute little resort island in Lake Erie. Once known only for it's bars......it's quite family friendly now. The main mode of transportation are golf carts. You can rent by the hour or the day. They have some nice parks along the lake, caves you can tour, mini-golf and other kid friendly stuff, as well as tons of shops and restaurants. You can easily spend a whole day up there.

We're in the middle of this trip now. DH is writing about it on his blog... www.ourfamilymisadventures.blogspot.com. We spent three nights at Harbortown in Monroe MI and visited the Ford Museum etc. Then we drove to Niagara Falls and stayed at the Embassy Suites overlooking the falls--great view. We did a bunch of the cheesy attractions in Cliffton Hill and did see the Oh Canada Eh show. Now we are at the Jellystone Campground in Quarreyville PA. We'll be here for 4 nights (2 more.) DH has posted most of these days but still has to post pictures. Internet connection has been hard to find.
