Chicago Midway Airport

We just booked our flight out of Chicago Midway, this will be our first trip from that Airport. We will be driving from North East Grand Rapids - 131 to 196- What is the best way to go, and is there anything we need to know before we go? How long will it take? I usually make downtown Chicgo in 3.5Hrs. Also how is the long term parking there?

We live pretty close to the airport, so I can't help much with driving. But for parking, I strongly recommend using Midway Park Savers instead of Midway's lot. It's actually within walking distance of the airport (across the street from the Orange Line commuter entrance), and if you search the internet, you can get a coupon for a free day. We use them all the time. Just choose your parking spot wisely because many are rather tight. We drive an SUV and had trouble getting out once.

Our oldest son has driven from South Bend to Midway a few times in the past six months and has found the Skyway (I90) to be the fastest. I90 merges with 94. Tthen you go South on I55 until you hit Cicero Avenue....south on it to the airport. If Cicero is really backed up, you can go to the next exit which is Grand.

Avoid rush time traffic!! We drove from South Bend and waited in traffic by the airport for over an hour to go a few blocks!

The next exit after Cicero going South on I-55 is Central Ave.

And the worst part is I checked a map before posting. Somehow between looking up the name to getting back to my computer it morphed from Central to Grand.

I guess they both have an r, a, and n.....
