I am aboslutely thrilled that we got it!!! Yes, I realize we have the International competition to get through next, but I think we've got a good shot. Heck, making it this far proves something. We were able to beat out a city who definitely had a lot to offer already.

I have already thought about volunteering for the games. My DH would be working his BUTT OFF!! Talk about the overtime!! Between the City and his military assignment, hmmm... good money! LOL!!

I just think it's great that we've been given the chance to try and get it. And while I agree that the mayor does a lot for the city, it's not quite the same when you work for him. While he's obviously not my DH's immediate boss, he controls every department of the city, and working for that sometimes is difficult. But, he does a lot for the city itself.

Can't wait to see what they do for the next few years now....

Edited -- I like the idea of a DIS meet. By the way, since I live under a rock & wasn't paying any attention, is this for the summer or winter Olympics? I knew they were pushing to have Chicago in the running but wasn't paying attention. I guess I need to brush up now that it's in the running.
