The United States Olympic Committee has announced its selection of Chicago as the American candidate city for the 2016 Olympic Games. Chicago beat out Los Angeles for the honor. The International Olympic Committee will select the site of the 2016 Games in 2009. So far it appears that Chicago will be competing against Tokyo, Madrid, Rome, and Rio.
Congratulations Chicago! I think the chances of Chicago winning the Games are very good.

I think once the West Side Stadium plan fell through, their hopes of 2012/2016 went with it. Also, the city wasn't really behind it as much as the other competing cities in 2012. It just fizzled away.
I was thinking the same thing!!! My first thought when I heard it was 'oh my, maybe a time for vacation?' but then thought it's a once in a lifetime thing so we will see, that's really a long way off.
I guess I need to brush up now that it's in the running.
