Chicago first City eliminated..... darn

Wow I think that's a pretty big slap in the face actually to make them be the first eliminated. (considering most thought Tokyo would be first.)

I thought everyone said it was a done deal?

my guess is that RIO will be a contender, especially since there have never been games in south america.

then again, just a pirate!pirate:

the whole selection process is SOOOOO political - and I think 1/2 of the decisions are made to "stick it" to the USA. I'm not surprised that Chicago was not chosen.

As for eliminating Chicago first - that's the "stick it" factor.

I figured it would be Rio - whatever objections are floating around out there will be ignored in the interest of geographical equality and giving the "new guy" a chance.

Look for Chicago or another North AMerican city to get the nomination for 2020 - and then back to Asia or Australia in 2024. Europe again in 2028.

It's not like they sit around trying to decide which candidate city to kick out. In each round, they vote for whatever city they want to win. The city with the fewest votes gets removed from consideration and they vote on teh remainder.

It is what it is.

I guess I don't get the big deal. The United States has held 8 of the olmpic games more than any other country. France was second with 5.
