Chicago Embassy Suites or Fairfield Inn?

Planning a very last minute trip to Chicago with DD(10) , we have never been to Chicago and have the hotels narrowed down to these two. Both offer breakfast, have good trip advisor reviews and are the same price - any opinions? Thanks

we stayed at the one on State Street August 6-8. It is OK - I think the other one looks much nicer (Lakefront). Breakfast was crazy crowded and the layout is not very good. The area for breakfast and manager's reception is oddly configured and makes it very busy. It has lots of staggered and choppy seating. The pool is very small. We had some issues with the room, but management resolved it quickly. It was also very noisy outside, not that the hotel can help that. It is a good location; walking distance to most things. The rooms were very large, which was good. I can't speak for the Fairfield Inn.

My DS stayed at the Fairfield (assuming it is the one near Water Tower Place) a few months ago and said it was very nice-no complaints at all.

We've stayed at the Embassy Suites Lakefront two or three times. We really like it. We can walk to Navy Pier and also walk to Michigan Ave.

Agree with previous poster about State Street Embassy. Managers reception was crazy crowded and the snacks were gone in minutes, although they did refill. The pool was small. They also do not offer free WiFi even in the lobby. I was there the same dates, too. Small world.

We stayed at the ES on State Street and we loved it. We were there in the middle of January though, so it was not very crowded. The doorman was so nice, we enjoyed chatting with him as we went in and out each day.

We always stay at the ES Lakefront. It is just a few blocks from Navy Pier and the MR and Breakfast was well stocked and every good.
