Chicago Cubs fans - Rebuilding Year 2023

I don't know anything about the pitcher we got in return but Matt is hitting .210 this year. He's a career .240 hitter. If that's the kind of production we want, we can easily call someone up from the minors who can give us that and more.
True. I've always thought of Matt as STEADY and they kind of guy you want in a clutch. I'm looking at his stats from last year and he had 24 RBIs in 48 hits. But, there was no room for him with the Cubs. I wish him luck. I'm just not feeling it for Hancock for multiple reasons, least of which that he's a 27-year old AA player who dropped out of community college to be drafted by SD.

yep 10 day sprained finger. Guess we get another double header tomorrow gang
At least this one will have a break between the nine innings! And we won't have to ask our pitching staff to pinch hit. It's probably good for the team to (literally) "chill" today.

I can't believe the crappy player we got for him. A 27 year old minor leaguer who has been in the SD farm system for since 2011. Matt is worth 3 of him! There must be some reason we made such an aweful trade but I don't have any clue what it is.
maybe Theo's still on his W.S. bender. Matty was DEFINITELY worth more ..this leaves a hole, trust me. This is EXACTLY what I was worried about for him..being dealt as a fire sale. All I know is Boz is going to be very busy

thing is the weather report looks WORSE for tomorrow than today..and trying to fit in 2? I guess challenge accepted. We also don't have to look at joe West for 18 innings and be bummed when his body blocks a wild pitch opportunity again :rolleyes1I am super bummed JHey on the DL. I was looking forward to him getting some air under the ball and having that carry over into the STL series.

JHeys DL for the team which is allowing pitching(Floro) for a breather? My gut says he could play, taking one for the team ...covenient that Floro ws in CO already.

Awesome to see Schwarber and AAJ's arms doing so well on defense! Learning experience for AAJ to know when to call the #12 off for a play. I think Javy forgot LaStella was playing 3rd there for a minute, that throw,, gotta go for the sure out. Our guys maybe got some feel for just blooping the ball , so much real estate to cover in Coors Field, if a bunt isn't going to be used, next best thing. Missing JHey, 10 days will be too long..but Floro did great going over 4 innings~shot in the arm for the bullpen. Hopefully Big John can go 6, dare I say 7~ would be a huge help.
Tons of CUB FANS there...solid true blue support from true blue fans! :thumbsup2

If they lose tonight, they'll be under .500. That's pathetic for this team.

This just doesn't seem to be working folks. Starting to get a bad feeling about the season.

to quote Darth Vader:
I find your lack of faith disturbing:darth:

however, I know I have enough optimism to cover the fan that doesn't, and then some

Big John fantastic tonight...the Ole Texan feeling good in the Colorado vibe. It can take a while to acclimate to the altitude changes, not saying ANY of the team were affected, but flights landing at 5 a.m., sitting in the hail all day, just a lot to adjust to after that 18 inning game. Guys did great with their at bats, getting the walks, capitalizing on the errors . I have to give credit to the Rockies pitcher in getting all those ground balls, I was expecting the opposite from both teams. John Jay off the bench , guy is awesome. Nice homers for Javy and KB. Bullpen on another light night, need it.

Todays line up. Rizzo gets some rest, Bam Bam gets his spot in the order. Candy Man gets another start~nice mix of players today. The Rockies didn't have all their starters going last night, will have to see what they choose today. Here's to the Professor earning extra credit and Mother Nature letting them get the game in.

rain delay again....Addie scratched with shoulder tightness~no word if serious/DL situation, sure hope not. KB will be back at third, Javy taking SS & LaStella playing 2nd , AAJ now in CF and I think Jay in RF

Yay for KB breaking up the no-no! Kyle pitched a fantastic game...2 pitcher's in a row to get at least to the 7th :worship:..bullpen should be in really good shape now. Hats off to Marquez..pitched a great game and his hit, well, took pointers from what Lackey did for us yesterday. I can just see Big John on the plane now..."Hey you guys can't hit sh**, want some pointers?:rotfl2:The weather looks like it's supposed to be in the 80's for the STL series..THAT will feel like baseball! I think the only series these guys have had warm weather for was the Boston one. Hope Addies shoulder isn't anything to be concerned about..Cubs must know we are in for severe thunderstorms and didn't want fans ruining their W flags ...that's my story and I'm sticking to it :thumbsup2 Turn the page boys, I believe!

Welp another loss. 3 back in the loss column now.
we are that, but both STL and Milwaukee have their games tonight. While I prefer the Cubs be in control of their own destiny, I'll take a little help from any losses that may occur. STL just squeaked in their W yesterday, and hat's off to Fowler for getting the winning run in for them.
