Hi Gang.
Busy days and lost the Internet again. I really hate the idea of changing service when you have so much invested with them (i.e. calendars, bookmarks, email addres, etc) but SBC is really getting on my nerves.

So sorry for your loss Poohlover. I reiterate all the kind words these Disers have had for you here. I feel so bad for what you are going through. I have had some emotional days lately for no reason at all (aside from hormones) so I can’t imagine how hard it is for you.

Glad everyone sounds like they are doing well. Congrats to the graduates and good luck for those who need it. Welcome newbies!

I love all downtown has to offer and get down there about once a week when the weather is nice. Plus we love Brookfield zoo too.

ChiTownZee we are going in November too. We are having CRT breakfast for my DDs 5th birthday on the 10th!

Sorry so short. I do think about you all and hope all is well on your ends!

The store is officially 100% mine :cheer2:
I passed my occupancy inspection yesterday, and my landlord then got my occupancy permit. My build-out is done, and I will have no more contractors coming in and out of the store - I am so excited!!!!! :woohoo: I actually have a store - it's so hard to believe:yay: This is such a dream come true for me!!!!!

Awesome!!! Congratulations Slo!!! :)

Being a network admin, I've seen so many of my colleagues over the years who started out with DSL switch to cable modems. Usually, the DSL works great at first, but then when it screws up, the telco's take forever getting it fixed properly. I think the only IT colleague I know of currently on DSL is because he can't get a cable modem where he's at.

My problem with that is we are splitting the cable up throughout our whole house. We have the weakest signal upstairs. This is a problem with our TIVO too. I am not sure how I could get it through cable without having them come out to our spider web of cables! Plus, I'm not that thrilled with Comcast either!

I've got the same problem. What you end up having to do is to split the cable off to your cable modem before it goes into the larger splitter for the TVs. In my case, I've got my network rack, with my mail server, my web server, my firewall and LAN switch located in the basement. So, I just stuffed the cable modem into the rack and ran a CAT5 ethernet cable up to my computer also. That way, I can run network into everyroom of my house by commandeering the phone jacks. :)

Good afternoon all.
Slo, congrats on getting your store closing. I am sure you are busy but excited right now.
John, sounds like my DH did what you did so we could have computer hook-ups in all bedrooms and office and kitchen. And boy did he make a mess doing it.:rotfl: Then he took it all wireless too. That has been a problem since our neighbor moved in and is using the same wireless network. I always end up losing my wireless provider when he gets on. (I'll bet he's a thief. JK)
DS had a Field Trip to Brookfield Zoo today and would you believe the buses got lost on the way there and we were about 45 minutes later arriving. Then they had to leave to return at 1:30 so we only had an hour and a half to see the animals. I was rushing the kids from place to place. DS kept wanting to look around. I had to remind him we could come again another day.:lmao:
Well, got to run. DD had ballet practice, DS has a soccer game, Dneice has preschool grad. and I have a softball game. Whew!!!!

Sorry it was such a rushed field trip. I am a bit baffled on how you can get lost going to Brookfield Zoo unless they take the signs down. :lmao: This coming from someone who can get lost in her own backyard. I have never actually gotten lost going to the Zoo thanks to the signs pointing you along all the way. Now, missing the exit to *GET* to the zoo, quite possible (haven't done it but possible) but once I'm on that road, I pretty much follow the signs. IF they ever take those down I'm out of luck. I know there are 2 ways to get there though and I have no clue the 2nd way. I go to exit 40 I believe it is (just follow the brown sign that says "Brookfield Zoo" exit!) and follow the signs down that residential road until it tells me to turn right and then we are in the parking lot. I think it's First street. I think there is an Ogden avenue way??? I have no clue about that way. I do always feel sorry for any visitors though because if I turned on the exit and then had to drive that far, I would be thinking I took a wrong exit...other than the signs help you along.

That would definitely have been a crazy field trip. Were there certain animals you *had* to see as part of the field trip or just for fun type of thing?

All I'm picturing is you running from exhibit to exhibit going "Oh look, lions & tigers & bears, oh my" :lmao:

slo, congrats on the start of being a business woman.
do you take coupons........:rotfl:

and congrats on passing and setting up your store.
you will do fine!

i think i need john to come to my house and do my computer set up.
he sounds like he is smart.

came back to tuck you all into bed.
green lights are on for kim raye,
turn it off, get some shut eye homie.

Yeah...thanks!:surfweb:

:happytv: Loved my TV tonght! Grey's, ER and Lost answers/recap! Exciting and you guys are going to laugh but I always look forward to and LOVE  Big Brother!

The store is officially 100% mine :cheer2:

Kim**How is your DH doing?
**How is your new job going?
HUGE CONGRATS SANDY!!! :thumbsup2 :cool1: :woohoo:  :cheer2:

DH is still home. His next appt. is 6/5. He won't be going back to work before then. The bad part is, if he gets 'released' for work then, Kelly will be getting out of school then. :sad1: Off-timing, I guess. :confused3

I've been off work too since nearly the time of DHs surgery. I worked a couple days for 'tax season' but I've been home with him everyday except then. ;)

That's weird, I did the opposite. :confused3 I had cable and switched to DSL. IMHO, neither are FAST!

:scared:  GREEK to me!

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: THAT was funny! :rotfl2:

green lights are on for kim raye,

NEVER a Green light for me. ;) Maybe it's Debbie you're seeing. :confused3

But, I WILL go get some zzzzzzzz's! ;) We have a Culture/Family luncheon at Kelly's school Friday.

'Nite all!!! Lights out!

Becky,
Yes we did have to see certain animals. In fact, lions, tigers and bears (oh, my) were on the list:lmao: as well as habitat Africa for something they will be discussing at school.
The bus did miss the Ogden Ave exit. The funny part was, they continued on to 290 and headed to the western burbs, had to pull into an apartment complex parking lot to turn around, and then still got off the wrong exit.:rotfl:
And I always go 294 to Ogden and then just a couple turns later and a long drive on 31st street and we're there. Not hard to get to the zoo, unless you're a bus driver.:rotfl2:
Well, I'm up way past my bedtime (working on a project for DD class). Later all.

:yay: :woohoo: TGIF EVERYONE!!!!:woohoo: :yay:

I actually look like a frame shop!!!!
75% of my samples are on the wall, and my rep is coming back today to finish the job (this company is so good to me!!)

What is everyone doing this weekend?
Tomorrow Kevin is staying home from Indy (what a great DH) so him and his dad can do the countertops in the store. My friend is also coming Saturday to help me set up the equipment:thumbsup2
Sunday I have to concentrate on planting 2 flats of flowers (which are now in my shed because of the frost) and cleaning the house.
I have a pretty productive weekend in store :)

ChiTown - I"ve done those early mornings for ressies 4 times. The first time I did it, you could only buy the tickets 60 days out - it was crazy!!!!!:headache: I didn't get the tickets at first because it sold out in 2 min:eek: Kevin and I had to call back the next morning on 2 seperate lines to get the tickets - I was so stressed out when it was all over.
**Your girls are almost the same age as mine.
Stephanie will be 9 in July, and Katie will be 4 in August.

geffric - Congrats on having your kitchen done:cheer2: I can hardly wait to se the pictures.

mvazul - I"m so sorry to hear about your MIL hurting your feeling  I would be devostated too if I overheard my MIL say that about me too :sad1: Knowing how I am, I wouldn't confront her, because I'm a wimp like that. If you confront her, she'll now say that you're evesdropping, even though you weren't. Maybe someone else will have some advice on why you should confront her - it's always good to hear many peoples advice
**Thanks for the congrats!!!!

Debbie - I have SBC at the store, and Kevin is already fed-up:mad: But Comcast can't come to the building unless I pay this obscene amount of money to have them do so - I said "no thanks!!!"

Crissup - Thanks for the congrats!!! :goodvibes

Tiggerrrrrnnnnn - Thanks for the congrats!!! :goodvibes
**What a bummer about the field trip:guilty: That would be hard to tell all those kids that they have to rush through that HUGE place.

Becky - I get lost in my own backyard too  This is why Kevin bought me a GARMIN (GPS) so I can be a little more independent. One time though it took me to someone's driveway (on the way to the pumpkin patch meet) thank goodness Bunchkin was able to help me find my way:)

Mac - Thanks for the congrats :goodvibes and yes I do take coupons :teeth:

Kim - Thanks for the congrats :goodvibes
I'm sorry your poor DH is home until June 5th. Is he still in pain? I will send lots and lots of PD his way :wizard:

Well, I gotta run and get Stephanie up for school :teacher:
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Happy Friday Morning everyone!! :wave2:

Just came inside from talking with some neighbors about our summer block party we are planning. This will be our thrid since the subdivision was built.
Also had to get filled in on all the crazy neighbors too of course!! :rotfl:

Speaking of neighbors, I didn't mention that DH and I had it out again with the immature idiots that live behind us!! :sad2:
We're so sick of their childish behavior.
My heart was racing just speaking with them. :guilty: I really cannot handle confronting people, the stress makes my poor heart go crazy.
I really need to go see the heart doctor again!!! :(

Today we are off to go shopping and also pick up my new glasses I ordered!!
I had lost my magnetic sun glass clip to my glasses while on vacation and the sun has been killing my eyes ever since!! :headache:

slo You've got your hands full for certain!!!
Let me know when you're officially open!!! :cool1: :goodvibes

Debbie I should ask my DH about what cable he ran in our house. He runs cable in new houses we work in besides doing the electric and he used some stuff that helps with the cable signal. The actual cable itself is huge and can handle mulitple connections.

Kim I hope all goes well for your DH at his next appt. Although it would be nice for him to spend some time with Kelly too!! ;)

Disneynut You asked about planning a POTC meet. If this is what you want to do please feel free to start a thread or post about picking dates. I'm sure everyone would chime in!! :teeth:
And I know a lot of people want to go and see the movie. :)
Thanks for volunteering to organize it!! :goodvibes

geffric Don't forget to post pics of your kitchen!! ::yes::

Congratulations on your store coming together!

Now, you understand why I practically have a panic attack when I'm driving in unfamiliar areas. I really could use a GPS system (even one on my phone for WALKING). I can get so twisted around at times. Once I've been somewhere once or twice I'm ok as long as I have my security blanket of direction print-outs *just* in case if it's not somewhere I go often but the first few times I just print out a gazillion maps, go over the directions several days ahead of time in my head (I STILL do have to print out a map to get to the Zoo but I know if I'm on the correct interstate -- I think I do 290? the brown sign will come up. I'm getting better at that one though because it's the same interstate I have to take to get to Shriner's.)

And then once I start getting past the I know where I'm at point, start getting nervous that I'm not going the right direction. It *really* messed me up when they changed the toll booths for where on 88 the 290/294 stuff all meets. THAT was my landmark to know it was there to know where that junction was. With open tolling it's GONE. :lmao: Thankfully DH was driving the first time I had been back there since it was re-done. I love when people give me landmarks along with directions though so that I at least know I haven't gone too far and missed a turn.

I know a lot of times I drive farther out of my way than I *have* to but once I know a route to get somewhere, that's the route I pretty much have to take until I get familiar with a different route or are familiar enough with the area to chance it.

Hence my nervousness for driving to the Allstate Arena -- which I have to attempt to do again in January, to which I will freak out because I still don't know my way for sure and this time it's just DD & me. :lmao: Thank goodness everything is signed well around here -- I'd never get anywhere otherwise.

Busy day at work..
But It is lunch time, so I'll see if I can post kitchen pictures..

This is before.. and no my kitchen isn't ever that clean and stuff moved from the counters.. I had to clean up for the remodel guys..

Well that didn't work.. maybe I can't use Snapfish..

ChiTownZee- Welcome! I am often in your area! Mancino's and LaSiesta...yum!
Slo- I'll get your recip soon. Maybe you could make a few adaptations to make it more Tonga-like.
Geffric- Your kitchen looks great! Is that Pergo? Was it hard to install?
Mvazul- Congrats on the apartment! Moving is no fun, but the end result is.
Bunchkin-I hate being without sunglasses. It I have my glasses on, instead of my contacts in, I will put sunglasses over my glasses when driving. Hugely dorky, but I can't stand squinting!
Becky and Slo- I get lost all the time. I call my mom and she gets out her map. She has lived here all her life, so she knows her way around the area. I call it "MomStar".
We had our home inspection yesterday. Everything went pretty well. Most of the things found were minor, except there is a cistern in the yard. Basically, a gigantic hole under an easily removable manhole cover! They need to fill it or put a more secure cover on it. I thought they might want to build a nice big deck over it!!! Anyway, another busy weekend is coming up. The kids are with their dad, so I am meeting a friend for bfast on Sun. Hopefully, she makes it. She is due in a little over a week with her first!
Enjoy your weekends, everyone!
