Happy Wednesday! Thanks, everyone for the congrats on Christopher's graduation...I forgot to tell you all that he stuck a mini-beanie baby Penguin that I had given him ages ago under his cap during grad that he considered a "good luck" charm! I also just happened to get him a stuffed Penguin from a store in Galena on the way down to Dubuque, so that was kind of funny!:)

CHRISMISS...I hear ya about the invasion of stuff! We haueld Chris's stuff back on Sunday and it's Wednesday and it's still not all back in his room. And, of course, he has been doing his laundry kind of non-stop, too. And, last night when I made dinner, I guess I was still thinking there were three of us eating, and well, ummm...there wasn't quite enough for all four of us! Thank goodness Mark made popcorn later on!:)

BUNCHKIN...cute Shrek babies!! When does the movie come out?

MAC...your words here really touched me. Thank you.

HERSEY/GEFFRIC...I think it's the heat or the dryer, too. Yep, that's it!

SLO...sorry the knee brace is an ugly thing...I sure hope it makes the knee more comfortable, though?? Good luck with the whole carpet thing.

KIM...I hope you find someone to take the tickets for Great America. It does sound like a good deal.

CINDERELLA...Welcome! Stop by often!

Shout out as usual to all of Chicagoland...have a wonderful day, everybody!:)

Poohlovermom -- :grouphug: I'm so sorry for your loss. It *IS* hard sometimes to see God's plan if we ever do or not here. I know I've had things like that happen that I won't get into here but they seem to come in waves.

homie donna, sorry, i missed sending the shout out congrats for your son christopher. i was out of town a few days and didn't read back.
now that he is finished, what's his plans.

i hear ya about the "stuff" still out and not put away. you probably are so happy to have him home that you can't bear to complain that it needs to be organized..........

one of mine, todd, graduated from wiu last weekend and our garage is full and probably will be for sometime. i'm just happy he is home and don't care about anything else at this point. i had an issue and after i packed up son's junk from the dorm room in the van, we came home. we passed up the commencement services. we just wanted to get home.

so glad sons of mine never read the dis. what i call their junk/stuff are really their valuables. things like the beer signs, strange looking posters, the buckets that were used to be pressed against their dorm door and when you got up in the morning that full bucket of water was dumped in your room....yea the college stuff........think we have 3 of those buckets he brought home.....

i would have named you all by name and mentioned a special shout out each to you but i haven't been able to be on the computer very much. i think i am done for the day for awhile now. i might not be here all the time but i do read when i can. my thoughts are always with you.

Poohlover- It can only get better, right?
Slo- Mmm! Sounds good! I have a banana stuffed french toast recipe I make, topped with syrup and homemade banana whipped cream. I don't have the Poly atomosphere, though!
Geffric and Hersey- Glad you confirmed that is is, in fact, the dryer. I thought it was my twice weekly Oberweiss visits! Pb cup blizzard...well, I use the fro you at least!
Chrissmiss- Bloomington/Normal area. I'd like to try yoga, but I really need my cardio...see above!
Okay, gotta give the pc up to dd. She wants to look at the Am Girl website. We are planning a trip there for her bday soon. She is asking for $ so she can shop. She doesn't quite get how much that stuff is yet, so we are going to check it out now!

Good Morning all!!

Well, we never made it to the Build A Bear store last night, as DH worked late...again. So tonight he promised to be home early so we can take the kids to the mall.
If we get the little green ogres I'll be sure to take a picture so everyone can see them.

poohlovermom :grouphug: Lots of hugs for you!! I'm sorry to hear of all that has gone on in your life in the last year or so.

slo Sorry to hear about the carpet problems. When we had new carpet installed in our old house, the installers scratched some of the walls. I think to some degree it's impossible to avoid getting any scratches because they need to roll out the carpet up to the wall and push down on the excess to get it in place under the trim. It's not nice but we knew it would happen.
What I have for you to frame, and I'm kind of embarrassed to say, is a large picture taken of Lauren when she was a baby!! I never had it framed and have moved it to 2 houses now!!! So I need to have it matted and framed. I always put it some where and forget about it. :sad2:

macraven I thought it was neat-o how you referred to us all being in "this box"!! :goodvibes

Donna I always cook too much food!!
So what's next for your son now that he has graduated?

paintnolish They have Oberweiss ice cream in little containers at the Jewel now. And on the lid is a coupon for the store!!!

Have fun with planning your DD's b-day trip to AGP!!!

Of all the American Girl stuff Lauren has, she has emassed a good amount of Molly's entire collection.
Here's the latest new item she wants:
Molly's Camp Gowonagin Tent, it makes camp sounds and plays the Camp song!!!

Good morning all. Well it is 2:00a.m. and I cann't sleep. A friend of mine past away this morning from breast cancer. She was in her 40's and had a 9 year old son and husband.:sad1: She was always so up beat and positive. She was a true christian lady who was kind to everyone and will be missed. Sometimes I just don't understand things. Life can be so hard sometimes. Not to make this about me but in the last 1 1/2 year I have had breast cancer, the death of my beloved father, the death of my mil and now the death of a friend. I don't mean to complain but just wanted to share. For only being 43 I feel like my world is sometimes turned upside down. Didn't mean to bring everyone down. Just wanted to share.

I am so sorry for you loss. I lost my uncle/Godfather almost 15 years ago to liver/pancreatic cancer. There are no words that make it easier to deal with. Many hugs to you!!

:grouphug:

Can I check in on this thread even if I'm not from Chicago? I'm down south in Bourbonnais :scared: I moved back last Nov....I grew up in Kankakee and lived in Florida for almost 12 years and I miss it a lot! So anyway.... hi chicago Disers! :wave2:

Of course, you are welcome here. We are all a friendly bunch who love to chat.

Morning everyone.
poohlovermom:grouphug: So sorry for your loss of your friend and your sadness at this time. Keep the good times in your heart with a smile. In time, the pain will pass. We will always be here for you.
Yep, Hersey and geffric, I would love to blame the dryer. Unfortunately, I think it's my co-workers fault.:lmao: Every weekend they bring in tons of food for munching all day. I have no willpower to say "I don't need to eat that!":rotfl2: I'm glad the weather is warming up. I will get out with this rotten :dog: and take lots of walks and run once he is big enough to keep up with me. Keep thinking I'll join the local health club to use the machines. (never get there)
Donna, congrats on your son's graduation. Happy moving back in week.
Mac, congrats to your son as well. I can't even imagine collage graduates. Thinking (dreaming) of the day that comes. Motherland, I will visit you often then.:cool1:
Bunchkin, Kellie has all that AG stuff under her bed and now she has to fight off the dog.:rolleyes1 He came out with the brushes and some hair bobs from AG stuff yesterday and I thought she was going to lose her mind:rotfl2: I keep reminding her that she is the reason we got that pooch. So far we have lost Barbies hands and feet, a dolphin from Sea World, and a few Nerf balls. (I'm just relieved he doesn't like furniture:rotfl2: )
Happy shopping at BAB. The Shreks look cute. I am stuffed animaled out here. Of course, I could put said puppy on that project too. He loves stuffed animals.
chrismiss, I think you live too far from me as well. Too bad. Could be a good thing for both of us.
Sandy, for your troubles. I know how frustrating it is when work isn't done right or well. That is how we ended up doing all our remodeling on our own. Everytime someone did something here, it went wrong and had to be redone. And I am so with you on not paying a job in full until it is completed properly. We got burned on our roof doing that. Hope your knee brace gets better once you get used to it. Is it one of those metal frames things or just a neoprene rubber one?
Well, I'd better get busy with sorting out the kids drawers now so I can get the laundry put away. It is starting to look like another bedroom in my laundry room:rotfl2:
Hi to everyone. The sun is coming out here finally, so maybe it won't be such a gloomy day after all.
And for those of you that saw Ch 7 news at 10pm last night, I know the people that had their swingset upended and the tree that came up from the high winds yesterday. DS was really concerned that there would be another tornado today. I had to reasssure him that wasn't going to happen.
Later

WHOA! Where IS everyone???? :confused3

A friend of mine past away this morning from breast cancer. She was in her 40's and had a 9 year old son and husband.:sad1: She was always so up beat and positive. She was a true christian lady who was kind to everyone and will be missed.
 That is soooo very sad. I'm so sorry for your loss and all you've dealt with lately!

you have many friends "inside this box" that do care about you.

we all care about those that are going through the misfortunes of life. i carry your burden also with you. please know you can always come here for a hand and a heart to reach out to you. inside this box are people that are bonding with you. we are always here for you.
MAC! That was so REAL - "inside this box"! I really feel the same way and I don't even post everyday but I read about and know and think about you all, my friends, everyday! "Inside the box" and outside as well. :grouphug:

slo, you are DIStined (read that as destined ;) ) to SUCCEED!!! :thumbsup2 You WILL!!!!!!! :cheer2:

BAB Ogres? Pics?? :thumbsup2 Those Shrek commercials are Funny! :rotfl:

Gotta get some zzzzzzzzz's now, sorry!

:grouphug: All!!

Good morning everyone. Where did our summer go :confused3. It's freezing out. I had to put the heat on again for a minute this morning.

Last night I had Alex help out with the lawn mowing :cool1: I mowed my yard and then we walked with the mower around the corner to his dad's and Alex mowed his yard. He didn't do to bad, he needs to learn to walk straight. I don't thing he's going to get a job with the cub's lawn crew yet.;)

The store is officially 100% mine :cheer2:
I passed my occupancy inspection yesterday, and my landlord then got my occupancy permit. My build-out is done, and I will have no more contractors coming in and out of the store - I am so excited!!!!! :woohoo: I actually have a store - it's so hard to believe:yay: This is such a dream come true for me!!!!! :goodvibes

The carpet guys did their best to fix the problem. The walls are now cleaned, but naturally the scratches are still there:rolleyes: They fixed the carpet on the wall by using contact cement - hopefully that will work:wizard:

Today I have my rep and merchandiser coming from my main frame company to hang all my samples - I am so excited!!!! Once that happens, I will really look like a frame store:banana: I also have the Dish Network coming out today to hook up the tv - this is exciting too, because the girls are getting awful bored while we are there:rolleyes:

Chris - the knee brace is one that keeps the patella in place. It's a heavy one piece of spandex with a pad on the inside - it's awful!!!!!

geffric,Becky, mvazul- - :wave2:

macraven - As Kim said, your post was so well said!!!!
**Did I say congrats to Todd for his graduation?
If not, congratulations to Todd on his graduation!!!:cheer2:
I'm glad he's home with you again!!!!
**How is your DH feeling after his horrible sickness?

Donna - How cute that Christopher stuck that penquin in his graduation cap. :goodvibes That had to make you feel good that you gave him something as a child that he still gets comfort from today:)

paint - When you get a chance, will you give me that receipe in a pm (this way I can save it until I write it down) -thanks!!!!!:)

Bunchkin - The scratches don't look so bad now that they are cleaned up. When they were mixed with carpet glue, it looked so bad:guilty:
**Don't be embarrassed about your frame job - I can hardly wait to see it:) It will be great to have you as one of my first customers!!!!:goodvibes

ChiTownZee -
5.gif

You absolutly can post here!!!! I'm not from Chicago, and I started the thread. We are all from the Chicago area, which makes us one big happy family :grouphug:

HERSEY - It is freezing out!!! Tracy Butler on channel 7 just said there may be frost inland. I guess I'm moving flowers inside the garage tonight:rolleyes:
**That's great that Alex is helping out:) He will be a big help to you as he gets older.

Tiggerrnnnnnn - thanks for the hug!!! Luckily, things are looking better now, and I haven't gotten the final bill yet. I'm trying to get them to give me a discount for my trouble. Yesterday the installers were suppossed to be at the store at 8:30am and they didn't get there until 9:15am. I told the carpet store that Kevin came home from work to talk to these guys, which should have kept him from work only a couple minutes, and here he missed work for an hour due to these yahoos (I didn't say that) being late - we were not happy:mad:

Kim - Thanks Kim!!!! :goodvibes
**How is your DH doing?
**How is your new job going?

Well, I gotta run and get ready to go earlier than normal today. I have to get Katie to the daycare before 9am because I have to be at the store by 9am for the Dish guy, then the FedEX guy (big delievery coming today) and then the frame ladies by 10am. It will be a very active day today!!!!

Have a good day today everyone!!

Good morning everyone and thanks for all the welcomes!! :goodvibes Today I had to set the alarm a little early to call WDW for Cinderella breakfast ressies for our Nov. trip. We haven't done it in years (after a couple of times that was enough) but Rachel has never been and I think she'll enjoy it so that will be our character meal this trip.
Ok, I'm off to finish the morning grind! I hope everyone has a great day!

Morning...:surfweb:

Kitchen is finally done :woohoo: and i will post pictures later today. I have to upload the pictures on the other 'puter and then put them at snapfish to share.. I am very pleased. I did have to get a new faucet so that added a bit to the cost. The old one wouldn't fit on the new sink. But overall I am quite happy about it. The kitchen looks much better than before. DH said we will seee what the cabinet refacing will look like in 10 years to really know if it was a good idea...:scratchin

Today I have to run over to new dimenisions and turn in my product and get paid $140.. yeah it will help pay for the WDW trip DDP. If anyone has time, I do recommend it as a way to make some extra $$$. It is just testing shampoo , hair products and deoderant. Rose i think of you whenever I go 'cause it is so clse and a way to get some extra $$ without a lot of hassle.

Anyway.. today Eric has a track meet, Geof has an eye doc appt and I have a boy scout committee meeting and DH is out of town.. gonna be running this evening.

Welcome to the new folks and hope everyone is feeling fine today. Gotta run back to work.. they are counting calls and call notes so i guess i have to get busy..

ChiTownZee: :welcome:

Good morning to everyone else!!

Sorry I haven't been around too much. Things have been busy. We got mostly moved into our apartment over the weekend. We still have some stuff to get from MIL's house. I don't like leaving ti there, but DH and I have both been working and just haven't had the time to get the rest. I think we will get more tonight. I am very anxious to get it all out. I posted about what happened on Mother's Day here.

I have tomorrow off. The family I work for are going out of town, so I get a 4 day weekend!! :woohoo: DD wants to go to the zoo tomorrow. We will have to wait and see what the weather will be like. I've heard it's supposed to be like today - sunny but chilly. We are supposed to get frost tonight. WTH??? Then, I heard it's supposed to be 80 on Saturday and back in the 50's on Sunday. :confused3

It will be nice if the temps are around 80 and sunny on Saturday. I have to take pictures of the school's T-Ball teams. 109 kids - individual pics and team pics!! This is my first time taking sports/team photos - other than for my own kids. The closer it gets I am wondering what I got myself into!!

Slo: Congratulations on your store. I'm glad everything is falling into place for you.

Not much else going on right now. Have a great one!! :flower3:
