I can't keep paper in the house! That is sooo scarey to me. I hate having magazines, newspaper or anything in the house that piles up paper wise, I shred a bunch of stuff each week and throw it outside. Why? I always think of them as kindling! My greatest fear is a house fire and if a house packed with paper goes up... what then? There was just a house fire last night where the fire started in a closet or something that was filled with trash! I just shivered at the thought.

Sk8leigh, maybe you ought to think about it that way. I have a small file drawer with our year of old statements and that's it. I have a small expanding file for "bills that need to be paid" and once they are paid, they go into the file or shredder. When my folks come to visit, they pile up newspapers on the floor from day to day. I get a little whacky by day 3 and start asking if they are going to re-read them or do they need to go out.

You ought to see my desk at work though. Piles of stuff all over, but I don't really care if this places goes up in smoke. :rotfl:

Whaoooo!!! That is scarey!!! I saw this show once, it was one of those decorating shows, and there was this woman who couldn't throw paper away!!!! She had tons of newspapers, magazines, clippings, etc.
She had TONS!!!!! Things she just "needed" to keep, but did nothing with.
:lmao:

Hmmm, should I go back in and delete that? :rolleyes1

I don't think I have a super scary amount or anything, although it would be a pain to move it.

My suggestion would be to chuck it all!!! If you haven't done anything with them by now, what will you actually do with all the clippings and such. Think of the time it will take to go through it all and clip them, and then sort them and store them easily for referrence. And THEN....you have to lug it all to your new house!!!! :lmao:

It's funny, a lot of things that I would have wanted to cut out at the time I got the magazine I don't care about anymore, but now there might be new things to look for.

I used to save all my People magazines, but now I try to stay pretty current with those. I clip things and only save the whole magazine if there's a cover I like or something.

A lot of this is skating stuff.

I have done the same thing with magazines. All though, I didn't amass a ton of them, I just decided one day to get rid of them. It was very freeing!! :thumbsup2

It would be nice to get rid of it, but there are a lot of things I would want to have. And while I don't know what it is right now, I would know that there was something that I could have had but I got rid of it.

With a lot of stuff I have, I never really do anything with it, but I like having it in case I want to go look at it. And occasionally I do.

I have a lot of videotapes (and now DVDs), too.

I told you, I'm a hoarder!

Hi, everyone!

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a good New Year -

Mine was ok-I spent it with my parents and DH, but I think once midnight hit, so did depression! :guilty: I've been depressed ever since the new year rang in - just a combo of a lot of things, I think and one being that the holidays are now over and I think it's what helped me get through last month. Now that the New Year is here, I feel like I have nothing to look forward to this year because I don't even know what is going to happen with my whole situation. :sad1: I thought about planning a trip to DL in March, but then I kinda backed out and cancelled the reservation. They have a special on park admission right now, too. I would have gone by myself, but I don't know.

Sorry - don't mean to be a dumper.

slo and bunchkin - your trip is quickly approaching! I hope you both have a wonderful time! :)

niteowl - it was good seeing you the other day at CVS ;)

I haven't "de-Christmased" my place yet. I don't do it until after January 6 because in my family, we celebrate Three Kings Day. But it's hard to keep the spirit up when everywhere else, it's gone.

Hello everyone!

I am now in full "birthday planning mode" since my DS-9's birthday is Jan. 12.

Remind me to NEVER do a movie birthday party again! I think it has raised my blood pressure/stress level up over the roof. I haven't even sent his invitations out yet because we were waiting on the movie times. It's going to be less than a week when people are invited to the party. I HATE that. I always like to send them out well in advance. The theatre just called me today with the times, so I could send them out but now there is no mail today! You know they are going to get lost in the shuffle with all the holiday mail that has been sitting there to be delivered. :scared1: Hopefully he will have some guests at his birthday party. I will be stressing because of the way the times worked, I'm going to be rushing to get there on time myself and I can NOT be late as we are seeing the movie first then the party room.

Then going to see High School Musical concert for DD for her 13th birthday on the 19th (although her birthday is in March. This IS her party though, she won't be getting anything on her real birthday except probably a cake!)

I still have to get the Christmas decorations taken down, finish up some sewing, clean up this disaster of a house (and if I think it's a disaster it's got to be REALLY bad because I can deal with lots of clutter but we still have tons of boxes for recycling everywhere, gifts to put away, toy pieces all over, garbage bags still full that wouldn't fit in last week's pick-up. We probably have 3 cans full again this week!!), I feel like I can't even walk through the house. Of course, am I DOING any of that at the moment. NOPE, I'm Dissing. Actually, I'm waiting for DS-3 to take his nap. Let's see if he cooperates today.

We go back to school tomorrow so I have to make sure the kids have clean clothes, find out what is still in their backpacks that we should have been doing all break (and take out any straggling pieces of candy/paper from their parties) and get it all organized.

Have a great day everyone!

Hello, all, and happy 2007! Geez, 2007..already!!!

Thanks to everyone who wished Brian a happy birthday...I think he enjoyed his special day (HERSEY...I *did* bake him a fudge marble cake, but did *not* stay up all night baking it!lol!) We then just kind of relaxed on New Years Eve...watched the sad, sad Bears game. We also watched the New York ball-drop...a question for you guys...why does the ball come *down* to start the new year?? Wouldn't you think since it's the beginning of the year, it would go "up"??? Especially with all the crowds there, you would think they could all see it better if it were to RISE at midnight instead of going down. I know, trivial thing, but still...I was just wondering! Then, I watched the celebration from Chicago...we had some GREAT fireworks in our city!!! New Year's Day was spent doing brunch with relatives...we had a very nice holiday weekend!

To all Pack-Rats..count me in as a charter member of the club! I am really bad with saving stuff that I "might" need "someday". Who knows when "someday" might come!

A bowling DIS-meet would be great! We love bowling, and go often. I can't really deal with the cosmic bowling, though, as the flashing lights tend to bring on a migraine, so I would have to take a pass if you all would prefer to go cosmic.

SLO/BUNCHKIN/NITEOWL...(Carrie, you are probably gone already)...Hope you all have wonderful trips!!!! I can't wait to hear all about them!!!

LEIGH...Glad you had a good trip. I was thinking about you the other day--I had taped the final ice-skating in the Grand Prix and just found the time to watch it. I felt soooo bad for Evan when he had to withdraw!!!

AMY/SANDY...What great pictures of your girls!!!!! Thanks to both of you for sharing! You have precious memories!!!

GEFFRIC...Welcome back!

MAC...My first-born is Brian, and the youngest is Christopher.

JEDI...Hang in there! Know that we are here for you!
KIM...Wow, I can't believe your Dancing/Stars show is coming up already!!! Hope you have a GREAT time!!! and happy birthday to your Matthew!!!

To everyone else, and as always, to any lurkers...HI! Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Good Afternoon all,
Need to go get groceries shortly. Just wanted to say hello. Had a busy weekend at work and now could really crawl back to bed and sleep for a week. I was in the delivery of the last baby of 2006 and the first of 2007 for our hospital. Rather neat for me.
Bunchkin if I could loan you my feet, I most certainly would. Anything to help out a fellow Diser.
Slo, the pictures of your girls were adorable.
I hope all upcoming trippers have a great time. PLEASE bring the 70 degree weather back home. While I realize I shouldn't complain about it being in the 40s here in January, I still prefer the warmer weather.
Our family would be very up for a bowling meet as well. The kids love to do this recreational activity.
OK checking out for now. And for all of you with your trees still up-so is mine. Maybe I'll start taking it down tonight. That always means digging out all the boxes I just put away. More clutter. Even if it's only temporary.
SamIAm, I could use your services here as well. After 5 years of being under construction and now having the house back, I don't know where to begin to return stuff. I almost feel like-haven't missed it in 5 years, toss it all to the curb.:rotfl:
OK off the the grocery store. People around here think they need to eat. Imagine that.:confused3

Debbie Let me know if you need my help. Just let me warn you I'm rutless when it's not my stuff :rotfl: . Seriously let me know. I'll stop off at Costco for the industrial garbage bags I use.

BIG DIS MEET AT DEBBIE'S.....

bring a bag, we are helping her clean out her valuables.

see debbie, i got your back, i'll help you with the problem

:thumbsup2

Debbie, once you get started and put the sentimentality aside, you'll be surprised how much you can get rid of. I have a hard time too especially with Megan's toys. I think to myself, "Awww, that was her first Winnie The Pooh, or her first baby doll". Then I get all squishy inside and can't do it! .... or can I?

Happy New Year!!!

dolls, smolls...........i still have all the baby teeth saved......
and the outfits i used when i brought the boys home from the hospital.

my boys are no longer babies......they are all grown up

Imagine how we feel at the library! :rotfl2: We've had occasions where we have candles (for a program or something) and we think, "Hmmm, should we really be doing this??"

i fell into the black hole and just got out.

seems like days since i have been here.

my highlights of what i can remember...

slo , when my kids were young even up to the age of 9, i would set the clocks forward to 11:45 and have them think it was almost new years eve.

i would put an older dick clark drop the ball time video on and have them watch it.

then they would go to bed.

and it was only 9:00 at night.......

wonder how that would go if i posted it on the cb??

pics were so beautiful....keep them coming.

i hear a lot of newspapers, magazines, etc...

you know what that means, bonfire.
great, i'll bring the weinies,
some one else bring the marshmellows.....

carmen, as long as you have hope, it is not over.

don't give up.

belated happy birthday to matt..noticed that 3 pages back when brian received a hb from a homie here.

will come back later.

I never would have thought YOU would be soo sneaky:rotfl2: Do you sons know now that you tricked them?

DH just got home from downtown and he left work at 3:20!!

He was rear ended on the Dan Ryan by some youngster with an expired (just a few days) insurance card. Hopefully he is insured! :sad2:

DH is ok. Not hurt at all it seems.

The state police took forever to show up, of course.

Before the police arrived the other driver offered him a couple hundred $$ to basically leave. I told him no way! His bumper is smashed in and one of the back doors on his van can't open. A couple hundred bucks might cover the labor cost to fix it.

Kid got a ticket for the lack of proof of current insurance.

Just what we needed before we leave town.

DH has the worst luck with vehicles. He must get rear ended once a year, and none of them have been his fault.

Not that it is a big deal, but I also missed going to a meeting I was supposed to be at at 7pm. Oh well, I hope I wasn't missed. ;)

Slo & 2SweetAngels: Your pictures are so cute!    :goodvibes I wanted a girl and got 2 boys. :confused3 oh well.:)

Slo & bunchkin & Nightowl: Have a great trip. :thumbsup2 I'm so ready to go again. Once a month would be perfect. ::yes:: :beach:

Jedi:  pixiedust:

RosePrincess & everyone else

Bunchkin Have him take advil or something he'll likely be sore tomorrow. Hope it isn't too expensive to fix the van.

Have a great trip and relax you both had a rought 2006

He just read this as he was in my office stalking me! :rotfl:

I doubt he will take anything!

Well, I should go. I hear the kids running around downstairs and it's now bed time. I hear one of them yelling "yeeee haaa", so I suspect one of them is a horse!! :rotfl:

Have a great night all!! :wave2:

Thanks rmom and bunchkin!

Bunchkin - I'm glad your DH is ok! I have to say - I hate driving on the Dan Ryan. It always feels so unsafe, with the speeds people go :confused3

Very funny HOMIE!!!!

Well as you can see I wasn't here all day because I was cleaning and throwing things out.......
:rotfl2: NOT!:rotfl2:

It was busy day and I did try to get a lot done but it seems like I mainly accomplished taking care of the kids and laundry:laundy: . I did do a couple shopping errands too so the whole day wasn't a wash. I will still be getting rid of stuff. Not sure where to begin. I do know I have to put Christmas away before I can do anything.

Still wanted to check in with you guys though!
Nicole.... I am glad your DH is OK.
Hang in there Jedi...I hope things turn around for you with DH in 2007!

Good Night!

PS I won't be giving any directions out to my house! :scared1:
