You know, I first read about this here on the DIS quite a while ago. There was no way I could afford it though. Well, since I've been working for a while I thought I would finally check into it. I went to make my appointment last Friday and the lady gave me a quote ($420
) After I picked my jaw up off the ground I decided that I really wanted to do this. After all, I've been getting my hair chemically straightened every three months or so at about $150 a pop each time and this is suppoes to last forever (on the hair that's treated) so I figured it would be worth it.
I walk in Saturday morning at 10 a.m. to start the long process. And when I say long I mean LONG! It was almost 3 p.m. when I walked out with beautifully straight non-frizzy hair! Before I left everyone at the salon had to touch it and even though I came in with my hair straight (since I blow dry it and use a straightening iron on it in the mornings) they could still tell the difference since it was so smooth and shiney now.
Yesterday I was finally able to wash it for the first time. I was afraid once I washed it and let it dry that it wouldn't look like it did when I left the salon. The cool part about the CHI is that you can supposedly just let it air dry and it will be straight and frizzless, so I thought I would put this theory to the test. I washed it and put in the leave-in conditioner that they gave me to use and that's it. And it's true...once it was dried it was still stright, shiney and frizzless.
I actually got mine done at the JC Penney salon. Yes, I put it on my JCP card but I do plan on paying it off in about two or three paychecks. I just wanted to let the others that I knew were here that were considering this type of straightening know that it is SOOOOOOOO totally worth it. I mean, I can run my fingers right through my hair and all! For the first time in my entire life I really do love my hair
