Tell me how you like your van, I just got as new one yesterday. Is there something special I should watch out for?

We're on our second Venture. I think you'll find that it's a nice riding and dependable van. I don't love vans, but at this stage in my life I need one and the Venture was my favorite. I'm a Chevy and GM fan anyway. Did you get the automatic slider? Kids love that door. We've had a Ford Windstar, too and it was constantly in the shop, we've never had a problem with our Venture. I actually went in to trade our old Venture for a Trailblazer but didn't like the ride as well as the van. I know many people knock Chevy's but I've only had good experiences with mine. Good luck.

I swear I could have written kasar's post! We're on our second Venture as well, and also used to own a Windstar.

For the most part, we'vbe had very good luck with them. Our current Venture is only about 5 months old, and one major thing has gone wrong with it. The left side electronic sliding door got stuck open! It would only close about 6 inches then automatically reopen. We had to drive to the dealership with the door wide open (and endure dozens of people beeping at us and yelling that the door was open  ). The guys in the service department said that they had never seen anything like it before, but determined that it was a broken cable that caused it. They ordered the part and it was fixed in a couple of days. They assured us that it was a freaky thing, and shouldn't happen again. I was just glad that we were close to home when it happened.

The only thing that went wrong with our first Venture was the closure on the glove compartment broke. That was under warranty and easily fixed as well. Although, the service guys say that is a common problem, so I'd watch out for that.

Good luck with your new car! What color did you get? Wer had a silver, and now we have Bronzemist mettalic.

Mine doesn't have the electronic sliders or the entertainment center ( I do have the VCR in a bag ) , but it has everything else you can think of.
Mine is Bronzemist , I didn't like that color in the beginning but now I do. I always liked Chevy's , we have always been lucky with them. My grand voyager was giving me way too many problems lately , it was time for a new one.

We are on our second one as well. The only thing wrong we had happen was with our entertainment center, and you want to make sure the automatic door does not close on the seat belt. You will not have any problems then, since you don't have these items. Both were fixed quickly, and under warranty. Just keep changing the oil faithfully. Enjoy your new van!!!:D

We are starting to shop for a new van and after our miserable experiences with our Ford Windstar we were afraid to buy a domestic made mini van. Good to see some positives about Chevrolet. All I know is this is our last FORD!!!!!

We just got our new one about two weeks ago. So far we love the ride it gives. And our daughter loves the automatic door. She has a lot of health issues, and has some weakness from a mini stroke a couple of years ago, and the automatic door is great for her.
I'm glad to see such postive posts here from everyone. We've had a real lemon of a Dodge Caravan for 11 years, so we're hoping for better luck with this van.:)

We don't have a Venture, but we do have a Pontiac Montana.. They are really almost the same.. We really like it a lot. This is our 2nd one too. The first one was a regular wheelbase model and when we had our 2nd child we decided we needed more room and traded it in for an extended length. Our new one doesn't have the power door, the first one did. My wife didn't really like it, she never felt comfortable with it. She isn't into gizmo's like I am... ;) It's her car, she won out on that decision.. :) Our first van was recalled for the door twice... that was how her reasoning went. We never had any mechanical problems with the first one and this one, not yet a year old, has not seen the dealership since we drove it out... (Knock on wood...)

Well, ours is a 97 and it has a bumpy ride if you are in the back. It also has an oil leak in the manifold, which will cost over $800 to repair (by the way, the Chevy Lumina we sold had the EXACT same problem which we had to pay for, and my fil has a Chevy Venture and he was just told that he has an antifreeze leak in the manifold-- do you see a pattern here?) Otherwise, I like it. I hope you have better luck with it than we have (also, the transmission had to be replaced within a year of owning it). Bad luck, I guess.:o
