Chemical alley part 4

Marcus: "y-yes sir. I'm Marcus Dynasty." He stood and shook his hand. Marcus was so nervous his knees were shaking.

Joseph: he noticed but didn't say anything. "you can come with me." he led him to his office.

Marcus: "Y-yes sir." He followed him in. He looked at Caroline once more with a pleading look, wishing she would get him out of this, before disappearing into the office.

Caroline: she had smiled at him trying to be reassuring. 'it's okay' she mouthed.

Joseph: he sat down at his desk and gestured to a chair for Marcus to sit down "please have a seat."

Marcus: he sat down, his head dropping like it normally did before he realized and sat up straight.

Joseph: "why do you want to work here Marcus?"

Marcus: "W-well sir- first, let me apologize for m-my stutter, I-I really can't help it. But anyways, i-it has always been my dream to cook. I haven't exactly had the most fortunate life, and I want to get a job to support my fiancé. I would love a job here, any job really. I'd be okay starting out as a busboy if it meant I had the chance to work up to be a chef one day."

Joseph: he smiled "that's honorable. Caroline said you cook. She's never recommended anyone to work here before, so I'm trusting she thinks you're right to work here. Have you worked in a kitchen before?"

Marcus: he frowned. "I worked in a diner for four and a half years, yes. It wasn't exactly an orthodox kitchen though. I-I was-" he gulped. "I was abused by the owners, both physically and mentally. I was also disowned by my parents because they believed that being a chef wasn't a good career choice. So that meant I was homeless for the time I worked there. I have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder after I tried committing suicide. I now live with Caroline and her son, his girlfriend, and her sister, we met in chemical alley." He then explained chemical alley to Joseph.

Marcus: "You don't know how much that means to me, sir, thank you."

Marcus: "You don't know how much that means to me, sir, thank you."

Joseph: he smiled slightly "you're welcome. I know what it's like not having people believe in you. Now let's go to the kitchen. I really don't want you starting out as a busboy."

Marcus: "R-really? Okay."

Marcus: "R-really? Okay."

Joseph: he stood up and led him into the kitchen it was filled with chefs and very quick moving. It was organized but to the outsider it may look like chaos. He led Marcus to a corner away from everyone. Ingredients were set up "just make something. I want to watch how you prepare dishes."

Marcus: his eyes widened and he gulped. "Y-yes sir." He started making one of his best dishes, scared that it wouldn't be good enough. He plated it ever so carefully, making sure everything was perfectly positioned. "H-here you are, sir." He shakily held out the plate.

Joseph: he watched him taking mental notes on what he did. He took the plate when he was done he took a bite and nodded. He smiled slightly "it's good" he said simply "really good." he took another bite then set the plate down "I'm going to have you fill out an application so we can get your information. We have to run a background check and look at a few other things. I'll give you a call sometime either tonight or tomorrow morning." he started leading the way back to the office.

Karen: she sat down next to Dawn "so, is everything okay?"

Marcus: "Y-yes sir."

Joseph: he handed him an application and a pen to fill it out. Karen: "how does he do that?"

Dawn: "How does he do what?"

Marcus: he started writing. "I-I can't fill out all of this. I didn't have an education past middle school and I can't put anything down for my parents, things like that." He looked down, ashamed.

Karen: "make everything all better."

Joseph: "it's okay. Just leave those parts blank."

Dawn: "Well, both of us were part of the problem. B-but I can't stay mad at him and he makes me feel so loved. I can't explain it."

Marcus: he nodded and finished the form. "H-here you are, sir." He handed it to him.
