We have ADR booked her. DD speaks French pretty well for a 16 year old. Eating here was her pick becasue she is hoping she can get a menu in just French (no English translations) and the servers will speak to her in Fench.:rolleyes1

It is her dream to study abroard in France so she is hoping to get a mini taste of French language and culture in the France showcase area and prehaps this resturant.

I seriously doubt they have french only menus however I am sure the entire staff is from France so they will enjoy speaking to her in their native language. Unfortunately unless she is very fluent she may have trouble keeping up with the pace they speak at

Another question is what type of french she speaks. Like english, there are many dialects, and te differences can be quite striking.

You might also want to mosey over to Canada. I know quite a few of them spoke French when we ate at Le Cellier. Again, a differnt version of French, but worth a shot.

Also keep in mind there are many French speaking CMs throughout the France pavilion area. There are usually two CMs standing outside the entrance to the film...and they love to encounter folks with whom they can converse in French, because otherwise their day could be quite boring.

Chefs de France is by far my favorite place to eat while staying at the World. I took 4 years of French in High School and went on to minor in French Culture in college. I am not the most fluent individual in the language but I am able to sit down and have minor conversations with the waiters/waitresses. Anytime I have gone they always seem excited to challenge the guest in holding a conversation. Not to mention that the food is out of this world, in my opinion!

Def. take some time to check out the shops too. Some of my best experiences with cast members have been in the wine shop and the bakery!

I hope she enjoys every minute of the experience!

My d had a wonderful time speaking French to the servers in Bistro de Paris. And they did have an all-French menu. (It's not on the dining plan, though, but it didn't matter to us since we don't use the plan.)

Last time we went to Chefs DD had just finished two years of HS French, and had even gone to France. The handsome waiter we had completely tongue tied her. I was trying to get her to talk to him and she wouldn't.

Hope your DD is more outgoing! If so, she will have fun.

1) Due to business travel, I speak enough to converse at Epcot.
2) In fact, I can get by in Germany, France, Mexico and Italy.
3) I can also get by at American Adventure, unless the CM is from No Joisey.
4) As far as you daughter, Chefs does not have an all-French menu.
5) However, Bistro does have all-French available.

As some others have mentioned, many CMs throughout France and Canada will love speaking with your DD in French. :goodvibes

I grew up in Quebec, and concur with those who say the differing French accents can make it challenging sometimes, particularly for someone learning. Also depends who they've learned from. Though I grew up in Quebec, all of my French teachers were from France or Belgium. It was funny... on my honeymoon in Paris (the real thing!), some of the people I encountered struggled to place my accent!

She'll have a blast! Contrary to what some say about the French, btw, when someone makes an effort to speak in their language (particularly in WDW), they will in all likelihood be met with a pleasant response (e.g. they won't speak at a mile-a-minute pace). :goodvibes

Thank you ev everyone! She will be SO happy. She is a junior in high school taking French 4 and Spanish 2. Yep I think I have a world traveler! Hopefully she will let her mom tag along on some of her travels! She doesn't speak very fast but can speak well. Her teacher is married to a Parisian so she has high standards. She can read really well, but comprehension is a weakness, but she is always up to a challenge!

I will check out the Bistro menu and prices. We are on the dinning plan but I was trying to think of something special just the two of us could do that is Disney. I don't want to do the mani pedi thing since we do that at home together. It might be fun having her translate to me the menu and then ordering in French for the both of us. :)

Oh., and maybe she can get an idea from the CMs when she talks with them some idea of what she can "do" with her love of languages and cultures.... She is haveing the worst time trying to figure out what to major in college.....
