I have enjoyed Chefs the last two times we went... side note... I swear I'm not always obsessed with hot waiters... but Chefs de France sure knows how to pick em
My Dec '07 review (there are pics if you click the link in my sig...they didnt copy over here):
We were seated pretty quickly right by a window facing the lake. It was definitely a little crowded in there but since we were by the window, it wasn't too bad. We saw the waiters trying to squeeze their way in between tables though and I would be a little annoyed if I had to keep trying to move my chair!
Our waiter was Sebastian (and he was cute, might I add.. lol) and he was funny and pretty good! I had also read that the service here was sub par but Sebastian def went out of his way to try to help us and was always making sure everything was ok with our meal. We ordered drinks and I was excited when I saw Orangina on the menu...mmmm!!! yayyy!!
We love love love onion soup so that was definitely one of the appetizers we ordered. Evan's mom suggested that we try the tomato and goat cheese flatbread so we got that as well.
I present to you the AWESOME AMAZING onion soup...
no joke we loved it. it was perfect! We had asked to have the cheese more well done and burnt and it came out perfect. I couldnt get enough!
The flatbread was also REALLLY good..
It had great flavor and fresh crushed tomatoes and yummy goat cheese. The 'crust' was more of a pastry... flaky and stuff and was really light so it wasn't filling at all. yum!
For my entree I ordered the short ribs but asked for potatoes au gratin instead of the polenta.
this had a lot of flavor too, although maybe a little salty. Still great flavor! And the potatoes were nice and cheesy too.
Mom had the vegetable lasagne thing and she said it was decent (there's that pickiness again!). I don't like eggplant at all or else I would have tried it for a real review...haha!
OK...and now for the best part...dessert!! woohooo!!! I ordered the sorbet trio (raspberry, kiwi, mango) with an elephant ear..
and mom got the Chocolate tart with banana and coconut, praline sauce with chocolate ice cream.
both of these were AWESOME!!! too bad i was wayyyyyy too full to really eat a lot of them! mmmmmm!!! chocolate and bananas is one of my favorite combos so the tart was perfect! top that off with a nice cappuccino and I was in heaven... lol
And now my review from May '08:
We then decided to head right to France and see if we can check into Chefs de France a little early for our reservation. We didn't have a problem at all and were seated within 10 minutes max. Sadly I took NO photos of the meal! It might have been because I was too mesmerized with all the waiters?! Seriously, is it a requirement to be extremely attractive to be a waiter at Chefs de France? haha! Even my DSM commented a few times about the eye candy! DDad was a little upset that the waitresses weren't up to par with the waiters. haha! Oh, and if any of you see a waiter there that looks just like Sylar from Heroes... tell him I said hi!!! hahaha! I didn't get a chance to get his name sadly.
OK OK...I guess I should talk about the meal, right? DSM decided to order the French menu... Onion Soup, Roasted Chicken, and Creme Brulee. Dad ordered the Onion Soup and the filet mignon and subbed the au gratin potatoes with french fries (I could get the real names they used on the menu but I wouldn't be able to pronounce them anyways!). I ordered the Tomato and Goat Cheese Tart, plus the short ribs and subbed the pasta with the au gratin potatoes.
We all had wine (grr...can't remember which ones either!) and they were all very tasty. The onion soups came out perfect and we couldn't get enough of them. I also LOVED my goat cheese/tomato tart. I had it last time I was there so I knew it would be good. Definitely didn't disappoint! I was worried I wouldn't have room for my entree but when it came out, I found some extra space. The short ribs were very good for the 2nd time in a row, which made me happy. The au gratin potatoes were a little too creamy and not cheesy enough for me but still decent. There was too much food anyways so I was kind of glad they weren't AMAZING so I didnt stuff my self. DSM really enjoyed her chicken...the winner on her plate was the grilled tomatoes though! And DDad said his was just ok. He ordered his filet medium but it came out more on the well side. I told him to ask for a new one but he wasn't that hungry anymore and just picked at the middle of the filet where it was still somewhat pink.
So by the time we finished with our entrees, there was NOOO room for dessert, even though DSM's order came with creme brulee. Now that I think of it, we should have told the waitress to give the creme brulee to another table since we already paid for it, but oh well. Instead we asked for the bill and decided to call it an early night. I got one last glimpse of my favorite waiter (hehehe) and we headed out back into the park.
