Never ate at Chefs De France, great, good, okay, terrible? Love onion soup, is the onion soup good? Please share what you liked/didn't like and would you go back?

Thanks a bunch ;)

Unfortunately, you can never get a 100% guarantee on how any restaurant will be on any given night. We ate there twice this past December and had polar opposite experiences. The first night (Monday before the Candlelight Processional) was awesome. We had 5:30 PM reservations and waited maybe 10 - 15 minutes. The service was awesome, the food was great and we were glad we planned to eat there twice (this was a favorite restaurant from our honeymoon 10 years ago). We also dined there on Friday and as I said, it was horrible. There was a problem (supposedly) with their computer system and they appeared to be understaffed and overbooked. We waited probably 30 - 35 minutes to be seated, the food was just okay and the desert was melted (literally) by the time they brought it out.

I've seen similar tales from the other restaurants too. Le Cellier is one of the restaurants where you'll see the most disparitiy between reports. I would recommend Le Chefs because the food can be really good. The problem is, you just never know what circumstances you'll find on any night.

For every restaurant at WDW, there are people on this board who love it and people on this board who hate it. If you have never been to Chefs de France (or any particular restaurant), you owe it to yourself to go once, give it a try and decide for yourself if it works for you.

That being said, I avoided Chefs de France for years. Just never a place that I could get excited to go to. Then, a couple years back, I tried it on a whim for lunch and it was great! I have since been back twice and really enjoyed it both times.

We've been for both lunch and dinner over the years and we've never had a bad meal there. We've had good service and not so good service, but the food has always been at least decent. Sometimes it has been wonderful. The onion soup is a decent version of the classic, but it isn't the best I've ever had. We would go (and have gone) back.

The restaurant upstairs, Bistro de Paris, is even better, but it is more expensive and not as child friendly. Excellent food, romantic atmosphere, and good service.

We dined at Le Chefs this past August. The restaurant was booked solid and walk ups were turned away. We checked in 15 minutes late due to the downpour from tropical storm Fay and found they had booked us for 2 and there were 3 of us. They corrected the mistake and were we seated within 10 minutes. Our server was wonderful and the food was fantastic. We shared a flatbread appetizer and all of us had the duck. Later since my DD and I were wearing our birthday pins were we surprised with dessert complete with candle and a chorus of Happy Birthday from the staff. It was a meal and a night I will never forget. If you like, check out my TR for more details and pictures and by all means enjoy Le Chefs.:goodvibes
