My husband, 4 year old daughter and I just returned from 4 days at WDW. We had the DDP.
Our last meal was at Chefs de France. I was really looking forward to some terrific french food and was hoping that this would be a highlight of our trip. Unfortunately, it was not!
On the DDP appetizers were not included, but we ordered the cheese platter OOP. We were extremely disappointed. Brie, Camembert, gouda and a small round of goat cheese of the variety from most supermarkets. I was hoping for some authentic, pungent cheeses!!!!! The Brie didn't even have a very good bloom on it, it seemed very young. Thankfully it wasn't plastic-wrapped, but it wasn't much better. The green salad that came as a garnish on the plate was the highlight of the appetizer.
For mains, I ordered the fruits de mer (seafood) with gnocci. First, there was no gnocci on the plate, only a dollop of mashed potato that had been deep fried, here and there. The 2 scallops were cooked differently (one was charred, the other one not even browned) and the fish was over cooked. The shrimp at least was good, but it's hard to cook it wrong. The broth was far too salty.
My husband had the beef tenderloin. I should have had this - it was cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, however, the green beans were horribly overdone / soggy and full of garlic salt.
For dessert we both ordered the proliferitoles (sp?). The chocolate sauce alone was worth the plate. The pastries were stale, hard, and bland. The ice cream was nothing special. So I used my spoon and had just the chocolate sauce!
My daughter had the green salad, the hamburger (darn waiter told her it was a hamburger after I had her convinced to have the fish) and ice cream for dessert. Her ice cream looked divine!
All in all, a very disappointing meal. Definitely not "french" cuisine.
