Chef's de France lately?

Has anyone here eaten at Chef's de France in the last few months? If so, how was it? I loved my rattatoui (sorry, I can't spell it) there a few years ago, and I'd love to go back. But 1-2 years ago, there were some really poor reviews. I was wondering if they've gotten better again? Any recent reviews?
DH and I ate there in September for first time ever, so I have no comparison what it "used" to be", but I liked my food. I got the Steak Frites and DH got Boeuf Bourguignon. I would go back, but it wasn't mind blowing or anything.

Olive Garden?? I'm not sure I'll take the risk. It's not the cost but the disappointment with sub-standard food.

Thanks for the comments.🙂

Not to say there's necessarily anything wrong with Olive Garden or chain level food - sometimes, that's what I want and am OK with it. I just hope for more from the dedicated or themed Disney restaurants. I have an upcoming trip in just over a week, and I'll be eating at T-Rex and Boatright's on two of the nights. I also eat at Rainforest sometimes too. I've eaten at Applebee's, Olive Garden, Friday's, Chili's, etc so I've got nothing against them. Chefs de France used to be a notch above that with what seemed like more French-style dishes and a little more flair, but lately seemed more watered down and generic...as I said, still plenty edible and all - just not what I hoped for based on many past experiences. It has happened to a lot of Disney's restaurants where more adventurous, ethnic, spicy, or highly regional foods are dropped in favor of more 'American' dishes. I understand the motives behind it, but it makes me appreciate even more the few restaurants that still have more adventurous spices or flavors or are more ethnic.

Just returned from 4 nights at Disney. Had dinner at Chefs de France and a very enjoyable experience. Had a wonderful young woman server from Le Mans. She slowed our meal down as we asked her to do. DH had the French onion soup as appetizer, which was excellent. I didn’t have an appetizer, which, in the past, has hastened them bringing out the main course. Not this time, thankfully, dueto our server. We both ordered the Fruits de la Mer, Tarte aux epinards for dinner. This dish was very well prepared and we really enjoyed it. We’ve been reluctant to go back to the Chefs de France, but had a much better experience this time.

I get what you mean. We've made reservations for Rosa Mexicana at the Dolphin instead. I love upscale Mexican food. Frontera Cocina in Disney Springs is my favorite but my birthday is the Sunday before Christmas and the crowds...

Have a good Disney trip!!

We ate there in November of 2024 and it was great. So, we decided to eat there again Thanksgiving week this year. It wasn’t as good and a bit of a let down this time. My husband said his steak wasn’t nearly as good as last year. My dish was just ok…service was good, though. Nice atmosphere, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back.

We went for the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and our server, Rudy, was excellent - he really made the experience for us. He gave us plenty of recommendations and they were terrific.

This time we had, on his recommendation:

Boeuf bourgignon, but sub mashed potatoes instead of the pasta that comes with.
The fruits de mer, which I wouldn't have ordered and I quite enjoyed.

My 10 year old wanted the steak frites (very good!) and others had the salmon. Other things we have had in the past that didn't need recommending - escargot, the bread, the pasta "au gratin" (basically a French version of mac and cheese), the pork shank.

We see it as a chance to have pretty decent "traditional" French food - keeping in mind it's not a signature restaurant. Also my dad (80+) took FOREVER to decide and asked a bajillion questions, Rudy was super patient with him. And he upgraded my drink - on the CP dining package I think I had an option for a prosecco and he upgraded it to the champagne. Also I had mis-booked my kid (she was 9 at the time we had booked all of this and had turned 10 on our trip) and I cannot remember whether we left the charge as is, or whether we upped her to a disney adult and we ended up getting a lot of extras (like the champagne and other things). All in all, a lovely experience that to us was comparable to some of the signature restaurants we've visited, even if the food was pretty straightforward.
