Just wanted to post a quick review of each of these that we tried for the first time Feb. 22-24. It was just DH and I, we left the kids at home for an adult weekend. Here we go:

Chefs De France: got this ADR 3 days before the trip, had read mixed reveiws. The onion soup was great, the lobster bisque was just ok. DH and I both had the filet and it was very good but not the best filet that we ever had. The plates were scorching hot but the potatoes, green beans and steak were lukewarm. We both had the cream puff dessert that was filled with ice cream and topped with choc sauce. It was tasty but nothing nothing special. The service was very very very slow. It took about 2.5 hours for our meal. We were not in a rush but this was still a very long time for a meal at Disney. We were seated in a great spot and watched the fireworks of Illuminations. Our server was new and very inexperienced but she had such a lovely personality that we could not be upset with her. She tried very hard. The worst part of the meal was helping her figure out our bill. We had DDP and then used DDE card for our apps and drinks. It was a nightmare of confusion for her when it should have been very simple! We got if worked out, sort of, but Disney should spend a little extra training time with some of the servers (langauage barriers etc).

Brown Derby: went for lunch on Sunday. Made the ADR that same morning. Restaurant was less than half full the whole time we were there. Salmon app was quite tasty. DH had the pasta with shrimp, he was not impressed. I had the seared Ahi tuna. The flavoring was delicious but the fish was not a great quality. Tons of tough spots that were not edible. Should have sent it back but we wanted to get going and did not want to have to wait for the replacement dish. We tried the grapefruit cake. I loved it, DH would not even take a 2nd bite. It had much more grapefruit taste than i had expected but I like grapefruit so that was OK with me. Paid OOP with DDE card and had no probs. Left some extra tip to bring it to 20%. It was not a bad experience but we dont plan to go back and are glad that we did not spend the money to take the children. We would never use 2 DDP TS credits for this. Service was very good.

Artist Point: We were really looking forward to this meal and were staying at VWL. It was OK. We were a little disappointed but we would try it again. The portobella mushroom soup was quite good and was our favorite thing. DH had the Buffalo, he liked it very much. I had the filet and it was good, not great. I should have tried the salmon. Had the hazlenut chocolate dessert and the cobbler. They were both good but not as wonderful as we had hoped. Forgot to mention that we also had the cheese plate earlier in the evening in the Lounge. It was very good and was a highlight. We used DDP and DDE card for our apps and drinks. Our server, Carol, knew exactly how to process the bills and things went smoothly. She was a fantastic server. We will go back but may not take the children even though there were tons of kids there (many of whom should have already been in bed as evidenced with the contant screaming. It was 9:30pm and they were tired babies.)

Ironically, our favorite meal on this trip was in MK at the Columbia Harbour House! The ham sandwhich and clam chowder was really tasty, even the little pre-packaged chocolate cake was good. I have no idea why we liked this so much but we will defiantely go back there during our trip next week.

We return to the World on March 7 for an 8 day spring break trip and will be trying a few more new places. We cant wait!

Thanks for the nice reviews!

Artist Point is on my "short list" for our next trip, so I was interested in your comments about your meal there, I'll have to get my DH to read your comments about the buffalo steak, I've heard many good things about it.

Columbia Harbour House is one of our favorites too, even if it is just CS. :goodvibes Sorry it was your best meal out of the bunch though, since the others were 2 TS places.

I hope you have a wonderful vacation next week, and that you'll be able to post dining reviews for that trip too!

Nice review! We are trying BD for the first time this coming trip in September. I'm really looking forward to it- since it will be "new" to me. Glad to read your likes/dislikes!:thumbsup2

Also, I have to add that Columbia Harbour House is my FAVORITE CS place! :lovestruc I love it, and even though we will be on the deluxe plan in Sept, I've made time to use my credits there! :woohoo: Should we start a fan club? :rotfl:

Who knew that a CS place could make so many people so happy! :thumbsup2

I absolutely love the Brown Derby. I think my experience had a lot to do with our waiter. He was fantastic. We asked for recommendations and allowed him to choose our LL/ED (late lunch/early dinner) meal. He ordered different apps, entrees, and desserts for my friend and I and then brought two small plates so we could sample each other's fare. He spent a good 15 minutes chatting with us and eventually found out it was my friend's first time to WDW. He disappeared for 10 or so minutes, then reappeared with a first timer button for her! He also spent time explaining the best way to explore the park (we had some flight trouble and arrived to the park in the afternoon - we only had that day to spend there) so that we would get nearly everything done in that afternoon. We never felt rushed at the restaurant, even though they were busy (not packed though). Yes, the price is a bit high (or 2 T.S. meals on DDP) but I found the food to be worth it!
