chef mickys brkfst..my eyes must be wrong$$

Yeah I was thinking the exact same thing after viewing the prices at allears.net. We dont have the dining plan and even though its only 2 of us, thats around $80 plus tip!! :scared1: I mean I like Mickey but thats crazy! I also saw that Ohana is around $32 or so. Trying to decide what to do.

My husband has already joked that we cant do Boma again because the meal was $40pp. We love Boma but not the price. I believe that if you stay at one of the resorts such as AKL, you should pay a somewhat cheaper price for the restaurant onsite like Boma. Im not saying it should be free or $10 but maybe cheaper. However, Im sure Disney is thinking that if you stay at a place like CR or AKL you should be able to pay for a meal, no problem. Not the case for us. While the dining plan is a great idea, Ive spent time calculating the difference between getting the DDP and not and we save over $1000 if not more by NOT getting the plan. :sad2:

We never have had breakfast at Disney and likely never will with those prices. We go to the park early and have an early lunch and an early dinner and that has always been fine

The prices for the buffets are expensive, but they are not that expensive...I think all ears is incorrect (or quoting the dinner price for breakfast)

We went to Crystal Palace and Donald Safari (Tusker House) breakfast last month during PEAK season and the prices were:
Adults $26.99 plus tax
Children $14.99 plus tax

This makes me really sad. We are planning this as a "once in a lifetime trip" (unless I can change my DH's mind!) And we had booked a Crystal Palace bkfast and Chef Mickey's bkfast, but after seeing the new prices we just can't handle it. Our 6 and 7 year olds will NOT eat that much food (or us for hat matter) and while these meals make it easier to see the characters, you can actually see them in the parks as well. So now we know for sure we are cancelling one bkfast and my DH really wants to cancel both just on the princple of price gouging.

We're frustrated and not sure what to do. :confused3

Wgeo....I would try to get the dining plan. If you can swing it. It may sound expensive but in the end you will be paying less than OOP.

Trying to decide if the dining plan is worth it for DH and I....we had free QSDP and upgraded to TS BUT with tips, it gets expensive....may just downgrade again

Please call Disney and ask about prices instead of relying on allears (or even me). The prices quoted at the start of this thread are incorrect. You may be going during a non-peak season. In that case, the breakfasts will be about $22.99 pluls tax per adult and $12.99 plus tax for children. Your husband may be less incensed about that. :confused3

To get a dining plan they would have to be staying onsite at a Disney resort and booking tickets through Disney as a package (unless you're an AP holder, then you can get the package without the tickets)...if you're not planning to do any of these, the dining plan is not an option. And the poster hasn't said where they're staying.

And it is rather sad to say - it is working, at least on me!

We purchased the dining plan on the upcoming trip because I do not want to deal with the sticker shock at the restaurants!

I add the DP just b/c DH can't handle seeing the bill. Even if I tell him we are spending less OOP than we would have on the DP he doesn't like to see the bill at the end. :sad2:
If it were me, I would take the same $1050 that I would spend on us having the DP for the week and use that to eat how I want and still end up spending less probably. I just wish the DP were customizable.

So True.:thumbsup2

I had originally booked Chef Mikeys for a late breakfast and decided to cancel because I thought it was a waste of a Table service and we have FD and decided to use that TS for something better...Although this will be our 4th disney World Vacation since 08 and there are no kids involved just 4 adults..but we do love the characters too..lol..but unless you just have kids it's really not worth the price...

This isn't an option at Chef M's, but for cash buffets, I happen to like lunch. It's a better value than breakfast (or, IMO, dinner), but usually provides a better fit for my touring day.

For example, Crystal Palace is about $29 for lunch pre-tax. When you compare that to three courses and a beverage more or less anywhere else, it's not really that bad.

Harlemgirl - thanks for the reply, but we are actually staying offsite so the dining plan doesn not work for us. I actually sat down last winter and looked at menus of the sit downs we would likely eat at, and since we are such small eaters the large menu entrees didn't appeal to us and we wouldn't really eat the desserts so we decided that the dining plan wasn't a good deal for us. Since the only discount available for us when we are going is free dining (and even then only for the second half of our stay), we decided to stay offsite.

Someone mentioned that the prices may not be correct? I hope that is the case so maybe I can talk DH into keeping one of the choices.

this is what all ears says.....
35.14 for Adults, $19.16 for Children 3-9 includes tax NOT gratuity

cant be right..were talking eggs...not caviar..unless since 2008 they've added caviar

Really??

we had worst meal ever there two years ago and it used to be a place we had one meal at least. we have free dinng to is 1 TS but will never go back there. food was all dried out. if your paying OOP and want good cheaper breakfast try Kona's in the Poly breakfast starts at $8.99 and up.. dinner there is great steaks by the way. another cheaper breakfast is whispering canyons over in WL is fun for the kids and good food or was to us. can order off menu or have family style. we have ate all three meals over there and all very good. most character breakfast $$$ Cape May is little cheaper think $18.99 and is with Goofy and gang...:cool1:

called dis today these r the feb prices
chef mickys
brkfst $30.88 dinnr 41.53$
crystal palace
$24.99 $26 dinnr 39.40$

exact prices

As others have said you're not paying for the food, you're paying for the characters. Personally, for the same characters, except you lose Minnie and Pluto, and get Daisy, Tusker House has much better food, and is slightly cheaper.
