...should we go for breakfast or dinner? What are your experiences?
hubby says dinner, I say breakfast :rolleyes1 ...

I have never been to CM for breakfast, but I can recommend the dinner! We never go for character breakfasts because we feel it wastes too much time in the morning, so we always do the dinners.

Both are great and have a variety of food. The character interaction is wonderful. Our tradition is to start our day with dinner at Chef Mickey's and end with a breakfast. Whichever you choose you will not be disappointed and will have a great time!! :goodvibes

We have never been to Chef Mickeys for dinner, but LOVE it for breakfast. It has become our must do, even after trying other character breakfasts.

We are not huge food conniseurs (sp?) so we look at our plans and where we want to be and just decide where to eat.

We are going in August....so we want to be at the Parks right at opening before it gets toooooo HOT. We have a light lunch and swim and rest in the afternoon (think HOT) then we plan a nice early sit-down dinner in air conditioning and we are refreshed for the evening!!!

Therefore...to answer your question :teeth: We would choose dinner at Chef Mickey's. This has nothing to do with the kind/quality of food and many will say that BF is cheaper but BF just doesn't work with our plans.

Good Luck!!

We have never been to breakfast at Chef Mickeys but we really enjoy having dinner there. The character interaction is GREAT, lots of food to chose from, and it's good. I am sure whichever you chose you will not be disappointed. Have a good time!

Sorry, but here is an opposite opinion! We Love Chef Mickey's for Bkfst (got a 7:30 a.m. PS this time) and we do NOT like the dinner! Food selections seemed a little weird to us and not as good. We feel the same way about Crystal Palace too, did not like their lunch buffet choices!! Hoping to get there early this time before the big crowds and head over to MK afterwards (it opens at 9:00 the morning we are going to Chef Mickey's)

Just up to you which you choose, b/c everyone's tastes are different! :earsboy:

Hopefully it was an off night, but the dinner we had at CMs was terrible. Just really bad food. Not cooked right, left out waaaaaay to long, etc. I would go for an early breakfast. You can't mess up the breakfast basics very easily and I hear some of the other choices are good too.

Thanks for your input guys!!
I'm a biscuits and gravy kind of gal, so I ALWAYS opt for breakfast when given a choice... :P

My husband, however, is drawn in by all the talk of Prime Rib. So, I guess maybe we'll just flip a quarter and call heads or tails and see who gets to chose that way.

I'm big on breakfasts b/c I'm not hungry when it's hot outside, I'm more likely to want an apple with peanut butter for dinner if the temp goes much over 80 :)...

Bella, I hope you did just get an off night, it stinks to have a bad dining experience on your vacation...especially at Disney! :)

We have been to both breakfast and dinner and our favorite is breakfast. Like everyone has said the character interaction is great and the food is good. Breakfast is cheaper and the food was more to our liking, but dinner has the dessert buffet and make-your-own-sundae bar. Our children loved that!! Both are a lot of fun!

You can't go wrong with either one, it just depends on your preferences. Have a great trip!!

We are planning on CM for dinner because I don't want to feel rushed at bfast. Eating while always looking at m watch and trying to make it at park opening on time....Too stressful, and I don't know if I can get my kids awake that early.

The only bfast we are planning is CP before park opening because I want to walk on an almost empty Main street.

We have always went to Chef Mickey's for dinner. The food, quite frankly has been OK, to disapointing, to downright yucky at times.

However we keep going back. The characters are great. We have found that the early seatings, seem to be the best. It is not so loud, and crazy yet, and the food, less picked through. Last trip the prime rib was really great.

We enjoy, a 5 pm seating, before a late night at MK.

We really enjoyed the dinner, and we are pretty critical. There was a lot to chose from, and I agree the dessert bar was a huge hit. I did not expect to like it but went for the kids. I would recommend making a PS on the early side (we went at 5:30) b/c it seemed like the people who came later had to wait longer. I also think the dinner works better for visiting parks during the morning.

I would not recommend dinner at CM. We thought all of the food had a bland taste and even our daughter who will eat pretty much anything, was not satisfied. The character interaction was great, though!!!

Well, we ended up with 9:00 dinner ressies...At least if the food is gross, the characters are good. We didn't get to see Mickey up close and personal last year, so this will be good for my girls. Thanks for all the info guys, I'll let you know how it goes... :)

I do not recommend CM at all.
My friends and their 3 children have been to CM every time they go to Disney World (4 trips over the last 5 years). They love it and highly recommended it to me and my DD (8 yrs old).
So I booked CM for a 7:05 pm PS.
It was a ZOO. Loud, crazy, kids running all over the place, kids grabbing at the characters, just too too many people.
We were seated in a back room, could not see anything going on.
The characters literally breezed through out area. Mickey Mouse was rushing from table to table. He was only at our table for less than 15 seconds. He gave my daughter a hug, posed for a picture, and turned his back on her and walked away. My daughter was trying to tell him it was her birthday and she was really glad to see him on her birthday and he totally ignored her. She was so hurt that she started to cry. I was so angry that I almost walked out of the restaurant. Minnie Mouse was not much better. The only character who spent more than a few seconds at our table was Goofy and he was only there for 30 seconds.
I thought the food was ok - but for all the hype it recieves - we were not impressed. We will not ever go back to CMs.
It is too overrated and too expensive.

We have done many other character meals and all of the others have been really nice - especially the Liberty Tree Tavern.

So I guess it seems the early people seem to love the dinner, but as the rush hour progresses, they tend to not like it as much. I think I'll get the earliest ressie I can or alternatively, get one for after the rush hour.

That's sad that Mickey didn't hang around a bit with the birthday girl. I'd hate to pay 30 bux special on a birthday for 15 seconds.

DH likes Prime Rib too, but prefers the breakfast at Chef Mickey. Try Le Cellier for Prime Rib or if you want a character meal with good Prime Rib, then my DH's favorite buffet is 1900 Park Fair dinner, it's DELICIOUS!!! And has allot of wonderful other dishes, sides and desserts.

It's funny how everyone has such a different opinion. We enjoyed the cinderella castle breakfast for a few trips, then tried norway/epcot and didn't care for it (the characters seemed like the didn't even look like the character/princesses, other than the clothing), we also went to park fair and it was boring, too relaxed for us. SO, we're trying chef mickeys this time...we want fun, chaos :) We haven't had food worth mentioning at any of these meals, but we go for the fun. I like that Disney has something for everyone!
