I have Chef Mickey's scheduled for breakfast one of our days. But also have Crystal Palace scheduled for breakfast on Sept. 15th. We are staying in CR, I am wondering if I should just book Chef Mickey's again and let the Crystal Palace one go to not have to deal with the park crowds.

Is Crystal Palace really special or would another Chef Mickey's fill in for a 3 year old?

My DD likes CP, but if no one in your party HAS to see Pooh and since you are at the CR I don't think swapping the reservation out would be a big deal. The food is great at both places!

If you have an early ADR for the crystal palace, you can get into the Magic Kingdom and get pictures in front of the castle without the crowds in the background!

If it were me, I'd keep the CP ressie and dump the CMs one. A: the food is FAR better at CP (lots of experience on this) and might I add that CP has CHOCOLATE Mickey waffles! (meaning chocolate batter ones, not topped w/ choc.) and they are DEVINE!; B: If your ressie is early enough, as a PP said, you can get some really priceless photos on Main Street w/ few people and even if it's not, I doubt "crowds" will really be much of an issue on Sept 15th. It really is nice to get into the park before the masses. We won't do it any other way. Though, we are getting more and more relaxed about the pace of our Disney trips now. :goodvibes We're all about ENJOYING ourselves and not commando-ing anything anymore.
end note: we haven't enjoyed the CM food in years and won't go back until something changes, for the better. So I'll keep watching for that.
And my autistic 3YO DS really liked CP over CMs. He's non verbal and non-communicative so how we could tell was in his reactions. He didn't eat at CMs and was pretty agitated by the crazy loudness, but CP was a little more manageable on sound and he, for the first time, actually TOUCHED a character! He wasn't afraid of them there for some reason. It really was a different experience w/ him and I wouldn't trade it for the world. He liked it in his own pure way, there had to be a reason.:lovestruc

Our experience at Chef Mickey"s has been good - we loved the interaction with the characters and we were pleased with the food. Maybe we have been lucky with our timing, but I have no complaints about Chef Mickey's and we have eaten there at least eight times. When we went to Crystal Palace we had a really different experience. Even though Mickey's was somewhat "loud and busy", CP was really crazy. I know that kids can be excited anywhere but this was "over the top." Maybe we hit a bad day, but it was really distracting - in fact, I don't even remember the food.

We loved both and we have no kids! I'd keep it - they both have different characters so it will be great for your 3yo :)

If you don't want to deal with park crowds for breakfast, but still want to see Pooh and Tigger, switch the CP to 1900 PF breakfast at the GF. It is one of our favorite character meals. Mary Poppins, Alice, Mad Hatter, Pooh and Tigger are the usual characters. :thumbsup2

I personally thought the breakfast at CM was awful. I would keep keep CP. Although, I have to admit that the characters at CM were pretty terrific. My son and I had a great time with them. And it is nice to see the fab 5. It all depends on which characters your child wants to see. CP is beautiful inside and the food is good.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I think I will keep the CP, I wasn't thinking about Winnie the Pooh, one of my DD's favorites.

I have a 3 year old as well and Crystal Palace is a totally different experience for both parties (parents and kiddos) compared to Chef Mickey's. She loved both.....i recommend mixing it up a bit to get more photos and autographs with different characters! I know you guys will enjoy!

I would recommend going to both. It's nice to switch things up and be able to get pictures with different characters. It was out first trip this past March and my 3 year old daughter enjoyed both restaurants.
