Our DDs saw Chef Mickeys on the WDW: Unwrapped TV show and are so excited about going! I've got a few questions:

1. Which is better? Breakfast or Dinner?

2. What time is best for breakfast?

3. What time is best for dinner?

4. How do we get there from the TTC? Is there a specific monorail that will take us there or do we have to get off somewhere else and walk?

5. What has been your family's experience with Chef Mickeys?

6. Is it feasible to go to the Magic Kingdom, make an early dinner PS for Chef Mickeys, and then return to MK for Wishes? Or does that sound like a bit too much?

Thanks for your help! I may have more questions later on! :teeth:

I can't answer all your questions since I have only eaten there for dinner a few times.

To get there from the TTC, you have to board the resort monorail & make the full loop around or you can board the ferry, take it over to the TTC & walk to the CR. I don't know which is quicker.

As for the MK & Chef Mickey's that is do-able in my book!

Every time I have gone to Chef Mickey's we have enjoyed it as do the kids I have been with (mine & my nieces/cousins).

Enjoy & eat lots.

We've only done breakfast at Chef Mickey's, but have eaten breakfast there 4 times. I can answer one question for you very easily. As far as the time to eat there...If you are eating breakfast, make it as early as you think you can get there. By 9 am, they are usually running behind on PS's, and you'll sit for 15 minutes or so waiting on your table. But at 8 or 8:30, you will walk right in (after your family photo of course).

I personally love the breakfast lasagna. I think the breakfast all around is good, however you will find others on this board who think it is terrible. TEHO. There are plenty of cereals, pastries, egg dishes, meats, potatoes, fruits, oatmeal, waffles, etc, etc.

Kids love this place (especially exciting is seeing the monorail zipping overhead)! I would recommend it.

We have only been for breakfast--and we do on every trip---great character interaction and good food. We normally book 8:30-10:30 and then head over to the MK.

To get to Chef Mickey's you have to transfer to a resort monorail--located next to the epcot monorail---has it's own entrance---

First-Chef Mickeys is one of the best i think. I love 1900 park fare just as much at the GF.

If at the TTC, take the Resorts Monorail, when you get off, you will see chef mickeys. Its on the 4th floor.

I usually make early dinner res, just because we like to eat early, around 5 or 6 and it has been just great.

Breakfast we have done around 8 or 9 and had no problems as well.

Its a must do on our list every trip. I look forward to eating both Bkfst and dinner there in about 3 weeks!!

You can easily do dinner there early and go back to MK for fireworks and fun!! We allow about 1-1 1/2 hours time once we arrive to wait, take pictures, eat and have fun.

Chef Mickey's is worth doing. My 5-year old princess and I went there for breakfast on our last trip (see restaurant review). While the food was not outstanding, it's great for meeting characters (which experience are you paying for, anyway?). The Contemporary is centrally located and easy to get to, especially if you are planning to continue on to the MK.

We went to Chef Mickey's for dinner. It was a lot of fun. Good selection at the buffet. The kid's loved being one on one with the characters and we got a lot of neat pictures. By the second time the characters did the circuit around the room, Pluto remembered joking with my daughter and really hammed it up. She was grinning from ear to ear. BTW-they have a desert bar especially for the kids. They can decorate their own deserts and they got a certificate for doing so. Ours now reside in my wife's scrapbook for the trip. Just one note of caution, if you're looking for a quiet, intimate, meal, this is not the place to go. It can get raucous - in a good way.

We have done both breakfasts and dinner, and MUCH preferred the breakfast. The food at the dinner was not that great. We try to get the earliest reservation possible in the morning as it gets crowded. People don't eat and leave promptly as they paid to see the characters and so they wait for all of them. That being said, the line at the check-in desk and the wait for a table (even with a priority seating) can get quite long.

We just did both breakfast and dinner. For breakfast we had a 9am ps and it was crowded. We did have to wait a little but our server made sure my son got to see the characters which was great. Personally we liked dinner better. We had a 6p PS and ther restaurant started getting busy on our way out--we got seated early. The food was great for dinner, we thought breakfast was good too--we just liked the dinner better. Character interaction at dinner was just as good as at breakfast.

having been there for both breakfast and dinner, I prefer dinner. You can definately do an early dinner then go back to MK.
You can walk from the Contemporary to MK, it takes less than 5 minutes.

1. Which is better? Breakfast or Dinner?

If you must eat there, breakfast is the better choice.

2. What time is best for breakfast?

Early PS--the place gets mobbed and even with a PS you can wait...and wait...and wait...

3. What time is best for dinner?

Never. Don't say I didn't warn you.

4. How do we get there from the TTC? Is there a specific monorail that will take us there or do we have to get off somewhere else and walk?

Get on the resort monorail and get off at the Contemporary, follow the signs.

5. What has been your family's experience with Chef Mickeys?

You know the barf bags in airplane seat pockets?

6. Is it feasible to go to the Magic Kingdom, make an early dinner PS for Chef Mickeys, and then return to MK for Wishes? Or does that sound like a bit too much?

Sure.

We did dinner and breakfast there on our last trip, and we enjoyed both. We liked breakfast better than dinner, but we're going back for both this year. The night we ate dinner there, our PS was for 6:00, and the parks were closing at 7 because a hurricane was coming that night. We rushed through dinner and missed Minnie because we needed to get back to our resort before the busses quit running. We did like the food at both meals.

I know that I read you can walk from MK to the Contemporary, but we were thinking of taking the monorail just to try it. Someone posted to take the resort monorail and ride it around to the Contemporary. Does anyone know long this will take? We don't want to be late for our PS--thanks!

We did a late dinner at Chef Mickey's a few years ago, then stayed and watched the fireworks from there. Then we tried to get back to our hotel and couldn't get a bus. We ended up walking to the TTC from the Poly (don't ask how we got there, I don't remember unless we walked there as well???) Our DD was only 5 and tried and it was so dark. We finally got back to ASMo on the last bus of the night around midnight! It was a nightmare, so no more late dinners at other hotels for us!

chef mickey's serves breakfast lasagne? i inquired on another thread and was told nope, the only place to get it was crystal palace... this is something we really want to try and it would be great if we could "kill two birds w/one stone" by getting my breakfast lasagne and our chef mickey's meal in at the same time as i was going to make ps' for both restaurants...

FWIW our strategy is very different. We always go to Chef Mickey's for a late breakfast on check-out day. We don't get up as early, check-out then head over. Having the late PS allows us to be fueled until about 6:00 and do MK for that last bit of magic before heading home.

Thanks for your answers everyone!

I've been thinking about this a lot and I think that we will probably do Chef Mickey's for breakfast and then head over to the Magic Kingdom. Why breakfast? Well, we have never done a character meal before so I'm not sure how the girls will react. I think I would rather have them go there after a good night's sleep, then after a long day at Magic Kingdom.

I do have another question though... this is most likely going to be a surprise for the girls. Can we take the monorail to the MK and then walk over to the Contemporary? That way, they'll think we are going to MK, but then we'll surprise them with CM! :Pinkbounc OK??? Sorry so many abbreviations... ;)

Sure, you can take the monorail from TTC to the MK or you can take the boat. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the MK to Chef Mickey's. There is a Contemporary path with a sign. I think character meals are a great way to start the day with little ones. We like to go before the park opens. Chef Mickey's was opening at 7 or 7:30 when we were there last month. Definitely walk from the Contemporary to MK after breakfast since MK is the last stop.

Tracy - are you sure the kid will be ok w/walking away FROM the MK?

Chef Mickey's is great - we go there every trip! This time we're trying brkfst for the first time. We usually go for our first dinner - we're going for our 1st brkfst

Depending on how long you have to wait for the monrail, the actual trip is only a couple of minutes. I would give yourself 20-25 minutes just to be sure. The monrail is fun and we go that way just to ride it.

Walking, however, is much faster. It should only take 10 minutes or so to walk.
