If we are going down to the POP at the beginning of November, should we make reservations at Chef Mickey's? Or is that usually the time of year when it isn't as crowded.

I would make the reservation!!!! Chef Mickey is a popular place at all times of the year.

Ditto the other posters. Why risk it being full when all it takes is a phone call to book a date. If something comes up and you can't make it you can always cancel.
I always book it for the last day of our trip, when we don't have much time to do theme parks but still want a couple of hours of Disney Magic before heading to the airport. It is like our going away party each year.

Making Advance Dining Reservations (ADRs) is always a good idea, regardless of crowds. If you are an advance planner and know when you want to eat, an ADR is good insurance against a very long wait or being told you have to come back in 2 hours. It also doesn't cost anything, so it's worth it just in case, know what I mean?

Also, I hate to break this to you, but it will be a little more crowded than you think. There's something called Jersey Week every year. Each year, all the NJ schools close due to a statewide teachers conference on an early-November Thursday and Friday. This year, it's Nov. 8 and 9. The 8th through the 10th will be pretty crowded ... not Christmas crowded, not Easter crowded, but more like summer crowded. My reservations begin on Sat. Nov. 3. Many people, like us, take the kids out of school on the Monday through Wednesday of that week and make an entire week at WDW out of it. Many teachers skip the conference and go down to WDW themselves, which in turn means there are more substitute teachers than usual that week. More subs and fewer students means that many schools don't bother introducing any new material that week (at least in the lower grades). And if they don't introduce any new material that week, more parents (like my wife and me) feel freer to pull the kids out of school, and so on.

Anyway, the week starting the 3rd will feel pretty normal at first, but will start to thicken a tiny bit by Tuesday, by Wednesday things are a little fuller, by Thursday you can tell something's going on, and by Friday it's tough to walk through Fantasyland.

In other words, if dining at specific places is important to you, make those ADRs.

A big car repair and a new central air conditioner mean that we'll probably cancel our reservations for that week due to financial constraints. Lucky for you ... one less set of funny accents to put up with.:rotfl:

You should make reservations for all of the table service restaurants you want to dine at. Chef Mickey's included. Call 407-WDW-DINE. They really are very helpful.

I recommend ADR's no matter when or where while at WDW! Why risk it?

Always make your ADR's... and if you want NO WAIT at all... they begin the Dinner meal at 5:00 so the closer you are to that time the better. Also we find that booking at 5:00 we get MORE character time because there are fewer tables of children.

We leave in 8 days with a Chef Mickey Birthday Resvervation on the 8th :woohoo: for my DD who turns 9 and that is her pick for her Birthday meal.
LOVE IT !!!!   :woohoo:

DEFINATELY make reservations. The resturants can be full at ANY time of the year. Eve nwith and ADR you still amy have to wait a bit, so why chance it. I've been told to ALWAYS make them as soon as you can, once you know where you want to go. I think the earliest is 90 days before your arrival.
But back in the day before the dining plan, they even suggested ADR's them too.

Yes make your ADR's, there in May probally will no0t go back. We where very diaspointed party of 10 had 6:15 adr's waited over 1 & a half hours for are seating. The food wasn't that great to us. But try for yourself you may love it there, seems like a lot do.

You may make your ADR's 180 days ahead, so for November, you're already well into that time frame!

Well I agree with you that we prob wont go back. We were a party of 4, and ended up waiting almost an hour, and we were done eating and ready to go and didn't even get to see the charaters. We felt rushed by our waiter to go ahead and leave. I was not impressed by the dinner, If I were to give them another try, or make a recommendation to someone I would try to make the ressie for Breakfast. The food wasn't great but was much better than dinner. But that is just my $0.02

We had breakfast there too. I wasn't too impressed with the food either. It was OK. some as kind of nasty (YUCK biscuits and gravy, the worst I have ever had) and then some was really good (YUMMY Mickey waffles) and some was just average. We saw Pluto right away,(and then he came over a second time as well) and we were done eating and had to wait for Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy. No way were we leaving till we saw them. My 2 YO wopuldn't eat hardly anything because she knew the characters were there and she was too busy looking for them. I would go back, but because I know my child loved it! We also really loved the Crystal Palace, but we ate dinner there. I found the food a bit better there, and we loved the Pooh characters too!

There could be just a few thousand in all 4 parks, and still have the dining part booked up full. Dont let 'lower' park crowds lull you into thinking that it will be empty. So yea, make ressies for anything that you want to eat at.

Don't take the chance. Go for the ADR and get the day and time that you want, after all, its only a phone call and if you change your mind you can call and cancel.

Definately make an ADR...Chef Mickey's is very popular....we have never been there for any meal but breakfast...but we have always liked it.

Ok!!! Thanks! We have been there for dinner for the most part, but my dad has always taken care of all that. We usually go in July, and I don't think he makes a DR but I wasn't sure, so THANK YOU SO MUCH! :)

We always make our ADR's and it's well worth it. We like to kick off our vacation with a character meal the day we arrive so the "magic" can begin w/o it being too hectic the first day. Chef Mickey is one of our favorites and we top it off with a relaxing ride on the monorail after!
