Although Ive never had them, Ive heard rave reviews about the mashed potatoes from CMs. I always thought I had heard they are "garlic" potatoes, however all the recipes Ive found dont have any garlic in them. Can anyone confirm that they really are garlic potatoes or am I imagining the garlic part? ;)

Thanks!

Funny you ask that. I'm not at all sure they do have garlic in them. It could be parmasan cheese. I have never seen a recipe for them that has garlic either. Hmmm...I'd like to know also. But, I sure do love them!!!

You are right. Ive found a couple recipes that call for parmesean, but for some reason Im thinking Ive heard people here call them garlic or garlic and cheese. I could be wrong though, it wouldnt be the first time. ;)

They are definitely Parmesean Cheese mashed potatoes. They are really very easy to make at home, just add Parmesean Cheese to the mashed potatoes with all the other usual ingredients. We have always made our mashed potatoes this way so we were a bit disappointed the first time we had them at Chef Mickeys. After reading all the rave reviews on the boards about these potatoes we really expected something unusual. The first time my kids tasted these potatoes they said: "They are just like what we have at home". They still enjoyed them but we were all a little disappointed.

Ok, I guess I have been imagining the garlic...or maybe wishing it, LOL! Thanks for the info everyone.

BTW, great picture David & Denise. :D

I found the recipe for the mashed potatoes on
http://www.homestead.com/disneyrecipes/WaltDisneyworldRecipes2.html

when I Googled DisneyWorld Recipes.

Here's what they have posted:

Chef Mickey's Mashed Potatoes

2 1/2 lbs. peeled potatoes
8 oz. butter (2 sticks)
2 C. hot milk
4 oz. (1/4 C.) grated parmesan cheese
3 oz. scallions chopped
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon pepper

Peel the potatoes and cut into chunks and boil about 15 minutes or until tender. Drain well and mash, using a potato masher or a heavy fork. Add the butter, cheese, scallions and enough milk to desired consistency. Blend well, adding salt and pepper to taste. (Do not use a food processor for this recipe.)
