While we were at chef mickeys in aug. we were presented with our picture package. We have purchased a package in the past but since then 2 more of our precious relatives have passed so I only told the photographer that I just wanted to buy the magnet. I was told that no way, this is not how they do it, you must buy the whole package. I really didnt want to get into it with him as the whole deceased relatives thing upsets our ds. I dont need to remind them they have no grandparents, aunts, uncles etc. I was really upset that they would not even be interested in making a sale, even if it was only the magnet.

Has anyone else experienced this? Do these photographers work on commission etc. I can't understand why we could buy 1 splash mountain picture and we could not buy 1 magnet.

Last November, we only bought one photo instead of the package and it was around 14.95 if I remember correctly. I remember being offered a single photo or a complete package deal that did include the magnet at a substantially higher price.

Speaking of packages are they really pressuring you to buy them? I really don't want to spend my money on a picture of just myself unless it's with a character and that's the only way I can get the picture. Any information?

We usually have the picture made, then look at it during the meal. If it's good and we really want it, then OK - if we don't, we just say NO THANK YOU - I don't remember seeing anyone being pressured! We had My DH's brother's family with us last year, so we dressed in matching Disney shirts and then split the picture package, including the cost - it worked out great for us and it was a good "family" picture. The only hastle was carrying around the pictures - we went to MK after that and had to carry them around all day, trying to avoid messing them up. They wouldn't send them back to the resort for you. I think it's a bummer, though if they won't sell you just the magnet -

Here's our tip: we just don't have them taken anymore. When we check in the greeter will say, "once you get your party together, go over and have your picture taken"....well folks, no one makes you have your picture taken, so we just go and sit down and wait to be called. It's a great feature if you need/want it, but we have gone too many times. As for the OP wanted just a part of the package, it is unfortunate that they won't break the items down, but that seems to be the way they do it, also thinking this is not Diseny, but a private co. doing it--however, we always get a cast discount on the pictures if we want them, so not sure. We have, however, gotten some great photos from the Luau and HDD (which I'm not sure if they still do)

We were lucky enough to have been able to go to WDW twice last year in a short period of time. We always eat at Breakfastosaurus, where they do the picture package thing. The first time our 2 DD's had had their faces painted just before we ate, and we had 2 photos taken (at the suggestion of the photographer). One was our family of 4 and one was our 2 DD's. We bought the photos because DD's came out so beautifully. However, that was enough pictures of us at Breakfastosaurus for awhile! Well, the next time we went was just 3 months later, and it was pretty slow that morning. When we checked in to eat, they said just step over here and have your picture taken. I said to the photographer, "We'd rather not have our photo taken." She said, "But I am supposed to take your photo." I said, "We really do not want to do this. There is NO WAY that we will buy the photos, and I feel like it is a giant waste of resources to take the photos. We just bought two packages 3 months ago, and I assure you we would never purchase photos today." She was in a complete huff, and said, "OK, if you want me to get in trouble for not doing my job." I said, "I'm not trying to get you in trouble, but if a guest does not want her picture taken and tells you that nicely, that should be the end of that." We did not have our picture taken, and I ended up feeling bad for the photographer.

We have never purchased the package.

Are there any characters in the picture with the family? I'd love to have a great picture with Mickey and my whole crew as that's where I plan to be for DS and my birthday breakfast - how I long for the days when I could get my family into matching shirts!!!:smooth:

We don't do the pictures anymore if we already have them. You can only have so many Chef Mickey pics in your living room! We just bypass the picture person and go right to be seated. No one has ever said we couldn't. At Chef Mickeys a CM did tell us to get our picture taken and I said no thanks, we already had one. No problem.

Too bad about not being able to break up the set.

We're starting to skip the photo ops altogether. We've got multiples of the same places. Maybe in few years we'll go get some new ones to compare how the kids have grown.

Off topic. Each year we'd get a Rock'n Roller coaster pic, and my oldest DS would always have a panic expression. It would get a little better, so he'd make us buy the new pic. Last summer, we finally got a picture where he was actually smiling. OK. Now I don't have to get the R'nR pic anymore. :p
