We have first time Disney family joining us this trip and they have a 7 year old. Which is the best character interaction from a distance? I really hope hugs are welcome just in time for our trip!

Character Meals have always been my favorite part. I want her to have the best experience possible for her very first time at Disney. We were fortunate enough to get Tusker House for breakfast!

28 more days!!:mickeyjum:goofy::dumbo:

Hollywood and Vine just because there are so few good dining options at HS. I don’t like Chef Mickey’s - too loud. We’ve always had a good experience at Hollywood and Vine.

I feel like Chef Mickey's is iconic, even if the food is just ok. I have plans to go with my 4 and 8 year old in April. The 8 yr old was already there was she was younger, but I want the 4 year old to see if when she is still "little." I like the monorail environment too.

I think chef mickeys is a more festive atmosphere right now. They spend a minute or two behind your table letting you snap pics/selfies and then all the characters come through and do their “biscuits in the oven” dance/sing-a-long. In the course of an hour, we actually saw all 5 characters a couple of times. The food isn’t amazing, but the family-style assortment is a step-up from the buffet and I think there are more choices for everyone since you don’t have to commit to one entree like H&V. I also think the current kids platter at chef mickeys is more appealing to kids. Watching the monorail during dinner is a treat for that age as well.

P.s. our experience is only at dinner time

Chef Mickey's is more exciting, and the monorail is a big hit. But the food is eh.

H&V dinner was decent character interactions and delicious food. We were blown away with how tasty it was!

I would tend to go with whatever worked best in your plans - I don't think she'll be disappointed with either.

I used to love Chef Mickey's but it's not as great as it used to be. We were there last month and it was very lack luster. Atmosphere and food. The characters barely stopped to pose for pictures. The best character dining we had was Garden Grill, then Tusker House.

We really enjoy our Hollywood and Vine meal last June. We were in close proximity to characters and got to see each one more than once. We haven't been back to Chef Mickey's since they changed the menu.

We were there in June and did both of these. A lot of people still seem to like Chef Mickeys but I have to admit I was a little disappointed. I am way too spoiled from the old days of the singing, dancing, and napkin twirling. The mood was a lot more somber at least for us. My son still had a blast not knowing otherwise, but we had way more fun at H&V this time - and it was a nice little break in the middle of HS. However, if old school CM comes back any time soon, I’d always pick that. It used to be a must-do pre-pandemic.
