We did CM breakfast last year and kids did love it--we were not thrilled with food, but kids loved character interaction. I'm starting to think about doing the Safari breakfast at AK instead--has anyone done both? We'll be going just after Christmas, and our AK day has early magic hour at 7am-yikes!--and my kids aren't into thrill rides yet (DS7 and DD4), so I thought this would be a way to add something to our day and then we wouldn't have to wake up at the crack of dawn to get to a 7:20 CM sitting later in the week--what do you all think?

First, I think it always nice to try something new...You have been to CM before...So why not give Tusker a try?

Anyway, we love the food at Tusker...There are tons of cold and hot food selections set up in stations...The food is very well done...The atmosphere is lively and fun...Decor is African as you would think...Characters look so cute in their safari costumes...The parade every 30-45 minutes with the characters is tons of fun...We love seeing Mickey, Goofy, Donald, Daisy...We do miss Pluto from the other one...Servers are great...Ask for Neil because he is the best....Our major knock on the place is that it is VERY LOUD and the tables are very close together...Characters seem to have a hard time getting around because the tables are so close together...Interaction is okay but they really just stay long enough to take a picture and a couple of hugs...

I would suggest going on the safari early because the animals are so very active in the AM, then eating...Try to time your ADR around that idea...For example, if you plan to arrive at the park at 8:00...Make your ADR for 9:15 or so...

We love CM for lots of reasons...Characters are great and we love the interaction...There are a few dishes we love and the rest of the food is just okay...The tables are more spread out and the noise level is not as high as Tusker....

So there is good and not so good with both...Go for something new ;)

We have been to breakfast at both. We really enjoyed both. If I had to pick one, I would probably go back to Tusker House. The food was better, the wait to be seated was shorter and Daisy is usually there and she is sometimes hard to find. We thought the character interaction was fine and it actually reminds us a lot of Chef Mickey's. I also recommend doing the Safari early. We went to AK at rope drop (9am) and rode the Safari first thing and then had a late breakfast at Tusker House. We saw a lot more animals that we have in the afternoon.

I've been to both. It's not as noisy at Tusker House, even thouh it is also a character meal and the food was better there.

We have been to both and IMO it's not even close: Chef Mickey's is way better than Donald's. Donald's has good food, but it is very noisy, chaotic and the character interaction is probably the worst of any character meal we have ever done - we were lucky if we got 30 seconds with a character. In fact, the only reason we're going to the new Donald breakfast at Tusker House this year is because we've seen good reviews about it on this site and are hoping it has gotten substantially better since it has changed locations. If I were choosing only 1 based off of my past experience, Chef Mickey's would win hands down: good food, fun atmosphere, and great character interaction.

We picked CM. I've read good reviews on both places, so it was down to the menu for us. We picked CM based on that.

We were at both in May this year. CM is a tradition with us and TH was new to us. We thoroughly enjoyed both ! The selection at CM is a lot more mainstream, while at TH they also have mainstream items but also have some unusual things you wouldn't ordinarily see. We had ADRs for 8 am for TH on a day that AK opened at 9 am. It was really special to wander through the park while it was empty. By the time we finished breakfast, the park had just opened and we walked on Kilimanjaro Safaris right afterward. CM is a first full day tradition with us. It's so special to have a really fun (and yummy) breakfast then ride the monorail to the Magic Kingdom.

I have done both. They were both good. I personally like the atmosphere and food better at CM, but i don't think you can go wrong either way!
