So I don't know what to do. I will be in the world with DH, DD3, Dsister, her DD9 and DD5 in Dec. I thought for our first night that we would go to Chef Mickey's it seemed like a great place to start our trip. But all I hear are AWFUL reviews about this place. We are not picky eaters at all and it's not even so much about the food as the experience cause I'm guessing the kids will eat little to nothing anyway....but even the character interaction sounds bad. The reviews of 1900 sound like a lot more fun but we are going to the CRT our last night in the land....Should I stick with Mickey or go with 1900.....they all love princesses....just feel like our first night should be with the mouse. HELP!!!!

Many families go to CM the first night to start their trip. It is a great idea.

My family prefers 1900PF because it seems quieter and less hectic to us- however, we have been lucky enough to be seated in a room off the dining room.

With kids that young, you will want an early ADR.

If your CM ADR time works well with your schedule, stick with CM.

If you can get a better time at 1900PF, take that instead.

I have seen some reviews on Chef Mickey's like you are describing before our last two trips and... we didn't find them to be true at all when we were there!

We really love Chef Mickey's.. and especially for a first night there. The food is good, there is a variety and the characters, I think interact just as they all do at any character dining. We love going there!

Now... 1900 Park Faire... we love that place too! The characters are hilarious. We had so much fun with the step sisters and step mother!!

If I had to choose... I would probably go with Chef Mickey's because you get all the "main" characters.

Have a great trip!

I can't comment on CM dinner, but we went to breakfast in June and really loved Chef Mickey's! It's all a personal preference when it comes to food. We are not real picky eaters either...we have 3, 6, 9 year olds and they don't eat a whole lot either, especially at buffets and with all the excitement of the characters coming around and watching for who is coming next. I have friends who ate at 1900 and were not wowed by the food there. Personally...We LOVED CM's!! http://www.expotv.com/videos/reviews/21/188/Chef-Mickeys-Contemporary-Resort-Florid/299139:rotfl:

Fortunately, we've always had good experiences at Chef Mickey's. It's a must- do for us, every trip.

Have a happy trip!

Depending on the age of the kids, the younger they are, the more chaos going on seems to work best! :goodvibes

With children the age of yours, I would recommend CM over 1900. It's a crazy atmosphere in the middle of the CR concourse.

Personally though, I would recommend Crystal Palace. It's got great food, great atmosphere, lots of characters, and it's in the middle of the MK. Don't know if that is an option for you.

1900 Park Fare gets my vote over Chef Mickey.

We do Chef Mickey every year. We stay for 10 nights so we do just about all character meals but out of all Chef Mickey is one of our least favorites.

CHEF MICKEY'S!! :wizard: Without doubt! We go 1-2 times per trip and it's ALWAYS great, great characters, great food, great service, they're great with food allergies too! My favourite restaurant in WDW in addition to CRT. :)

First of all when you come on here you hear the good & the bad about everything & every place. I say go for yourself and see what you like.

I LOVE CHEF MICKEY'S. For me this is the best feeling Disney resturant.
We have been here many of times for breakfast & Dinner.
A must do every trip.:worship::worship::worship::worship:
Good food & GREAT FUN

1900 is good to been here many of times for bk & din.
But Chef Mickey's will always be #1 for us.
Good food & fun .

Chef Mickeys breakfast was awesome, great food and fun. Dinner there still had great fun but the food was terrible.

We will not be going back to 1900 PF for either meal...we have done both and the food at both was just awful...characters at dinner were fun though

We are doing both! Couldn't get CM for our 1st night so we are going to 1900PF on the day we arrive. My 3 year old grand daughter loves the Disney Princesses so it seems like a good place to start.

I've seen the same reviews of CM/PF and it seems like some people love these restaurants and just as many say they are awful. As PP said, it's about the characters and the atmosphere. This is my grand daughters first trip to Disney and her parents don't know how long it will be before they go back so we opted for ADR's that would be the most fun for her and not so much about the quality of the food.

I think that starting your trip at Chef Mickey's would be very fun. We have always enjoyed the character interaction, and what better way to start your trip than seeing "the mouse that started it all..."
