Chef Mickeys for Dinner???

We have done breakfast and dinner there. THey were both good experiences for us. We have ADR's there already for our next trip. The food isn't out of this world, but we didn't leave hungry and it was clean on our visit.

We just ate there two weeks ago, and the food was terrible. It used to be our favorite and a tradition for my family, but definitely not so anymore. The food was lukewarm, and we ended up eating from the kid's area because the adult options were terrible.

Despite all the negative reviews I've read about dinner at Chef Mickey's, I booked a late ADR for our arrival night back on Dec. 1st. I am here to tell you that I am so glad that I did, because DBF and I had a great meal and an awesome time with the characters. I wrote up a full review of the food (with photos!), if you are interested:

I get a kick out of these CM threads....some people hate it,some love it- I personally have been at least 15 times over the last 15 years-and we've never had bad food there-EVER! Now,the desserts are.....ummm....icky and premade(dream whip-ew)
we usually take a bunch little tarts for the luscious berries on them......
breakfast and dinner- it's never been bad! and there are a lot of places we don't eat at Disney too....

We went on our last trip!! We loved the character interaction and the atmosphere. The food is more upscale buffet food, but buffet food none the less. On our next trip, DS is going to go with his grandparents while DH and I have date night. I feel that everyone should experience Chef Mickey's at least one time, but for adults, one time may be enough when there are so many great options at DW.

We love Chef Mickey's. We've probably eaten there at least 8 times in the past five years and never had a bad meal. Its not gourmet but its been a lot of fun for us each time. Its always been clean too. We like breakfast and dinner about evenly.

Like all places in WDW it will get mixed reviews. There are places around here that get nothing but wonderful reviews that I will never go to again, then places like Chef Mickey's that many people hate that we have always enjoyed. If the menu looks appealing and you want a character meal, go ahead and book it, you may love it as we do!

We ate there on December 18th. Reservation was originally like 8:55pm and arrived an hour early and got seated immediately. The food was acceptable, but nothing great. I mostly had the "roast beef" (i.e., low budget replacement of the prime rib), BBQ chicken, and mashed potatoes. Outside of wanting to see Mickey and the gang, we most likely wouldn't go back due to the cost.

The food isn't anything special, but we have had the best character interaction there. The kids find something to eat and the chefs are always super friendly about my food allergies.

We will continue to go. It's a fun place for the kids which means mom and dad get to eat in peace ;) So we give it a :thumbsup2
