I just reserved Chef Mickey's for dinner and am second guessing this.....

I've done breakfast there before and it "Rocked"! We are doing breakfast at a different place this time.

Is dinner good? I've read not so hot reviews and am afraid now.

Any advice? Thanks

We went in June and we did not like it. It was fun, and the kids enjoyed the characters. But the food was really bad. We had other character meals that we enjoyed more that were less expensive.

The day we went we spent the entire day at Animal Kingdom without a break. So, we could have just been hot tired and nothing was going to be good to us. My aunt and her husband and 4 kids sat at the same table with us and they didn't like it either.

It will be a long time, if ever, before we got back there.

We were there in May and I must say it was the worst meal/buffet we've ever had - even the parmesan mashed potatoes (which everyone on here seems to rave about) were like a pile of slop!!!:lmao:

The characters didn't seem to be interested in spending more than a couple of seconds with us - even with my DS9mths crawling after them he was still ignored!!:guilty:

I have heard that breakfast is better - and to be honest we found that ALL the character breakfasts were better than the lunches/ dinners (which was disappointing for me as I am much more of a dinner than a breakfast person)!!

This trip we ate at 3 character breakfasts - CMC, CP and TH - and the food was great at all three - the french toast (as always!!;) ) was great at CP and the Tusker House buffet ;) was fabulous altogether!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

hope that helps a little!!:thumbsup2

You will get varying opinions on Chef Mickeys. Some love it some hate it, but its one of the most popular places to eat and one of the most difficult places to get an ADR.

Personally, our family loves it and its a must do every trip. The food varies everytime we go, but we love the atmosphere and the characters too, which are a huge part of the whole experience.

I have to agree, dinner at CM's for us was our worst ever meal at WDW. We will never go back for dinner again. The food was just horrible and the characters just walked by us several times. After waiting to see if they would come back, we finally just left, vowing never to return. I have thought about trying breakfast there, but DH refuses to even think about it after our dinner experience.

We went for my b-day once, the characters were awesome the food was terrible! If I go again it would be to try breakfast

I'm surprised so many didn't like the food. We have gone twice, the last being July 2007. We went with my sister's family and all loved it! My sister's twins were celebrating their 9th birthdays and it was great! My brother in-law is very fussy and he even loved the prime rib. We are going back in three weeks. To us it is the perfect way to end our trip. I really like the food and the character interaction. Everyone has their own opinions as you can see from this post so give it a try and form your own. :)

I will say it a million times over Chef Mickeys spells DISNEY! You say breakfast " Rocked" well dinner is a double :cool1: ROCK:cool1:
in my opinion! Have a great time :thumbsup2

The food is terrible, the experience is great. You would be better off going there for breakfast.

I booked it for dinner for the first time too. I always thought it got good reviews, surprising to me to see people say the food is terrible. hmmm
Well, we love their mac and cheese so we'll fill up on that, and the desserts look amazing so we'll just eat those if all else fails, lol.

Without reading what everyone else said - Chef Mickeys is awesome! The cm are always friendly- food hot, yummy, and the bar has always been stocked. I've eaten there more times then I can count over the last 10 years- so I'm not just speaking from 1 or 2 trips there.

Dinner is just okay. If you want a great CM expreience, go there for breakfast!

YUCK!! and very expensive bad food!!
I'm not kidding when I say I could smell the Fish from
my seat. Plus, since it is a buffet and low enough
I saw so many kids touching the food that it grossed me
out. I cost $104.00 for 3 not encluding tip --thank goodness
we had Free Dining or I would have really been mad.
The characters were rushed. This is a very noisey restaurant also.
I would probably stick to Breakfast--hopefully they get that right.

We've done breakfast twice and dinner once.

Our experience was that the food and interaction at dinner were much worse than our experience for breakfast.

I agree that the kids (and adults) are germy, but really that's any buffet that you go to.

That being said, CM to us is a Disney experience and we'll continue going. We'll just probably try for breakfast vs dinner. (Less expensive and better overall for us)

you are so right - we (unfortunately) paid OOP as weren't on the dining plan and it was our most expensive meal of the whole stay (we were there for 3 + weeks) and it was also the worst. The character breakfasts are much better value if you are considering the cost at all.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We love Chef Mickey's for any meal. As with any restaurant opinion question-you're going to get lots of love it or hate it replies. I like to be informed so I read everything, but if it's somewhere I really want to go, we try it for ourself. What I like and look for is very different from what other people go for. Don't be afraid-just try it!

My family and I have had dinner there a few times and we thought it was ok. The food is not spectacular when you compare it to the buffet dinner at Boma, however it's not bad where we absolutely did not like it.

We really enjoyed dinner. We thought the food was very good, there were CM's around cleaning up, the characters were a lot of fun.
I would go back for dinner, we vote yes!

As a pp stated, you will get many different opinions on Chef Mickey's....some love it while others hate it. With that said, we are in the group that loves it :goodvibes. We do a Chef Mickey's breakfast and dinner every year and have yet to have a bad meal (we've been going since 2001). Since you had a great experience with breakfast, I say keep your ressie and give dinner a try :).

We have done both breakfast and dinner at CM, and unlike many other who have posted, we had a horrible time at the breakfast - much better at dinner. In fact, we have booked dinner again for our upcoming trip. I do think that our experiences have a bit to do with what time we had our ADRs for. When we did the breakfast, we had 10am ADRs and by then the place was jam packed: the wait was very long, and the characters were slow to get to each table. The service (bringing drinks) was really bad. The food was typical breakfast fare - nothing special. We ended up leaving well before all the characters came to our table - we were pretty disgusted with the whole thing. We reluctantly made ADRs for dinner on a subsequent trip - I had wanted to avoid CMs altogether after that first experience, however we had a much better time. I think the key was that our ADR was for right when the place opened, so it was much less crowded. We thought the food was good - I wouldn't say it is my favorite WDW restaurant, but it wasn't horrible! We will be going back this Dec for dinner, again with a fairly early ADR so the kids can eat with Mickey and friends!
