I need to know....is the salad bar a good one?? do they have peel and eat shrimp?? How is the food??

We ate there in Dec.
I thought the salad bar was very good. The lettuce and the "normal salad bar suspects" were very fresh..they also had a nice assortment of different cold salads that were tasty.
Yes, they had peel and eat shrimp. I didn't have any so I cannot speak to the quality or taste.
The food was "meh"...very typical of most Disney buffets. Nothing was terrible, nothing was really great. None of us left hungry and the characters were fun.
I don't have anything bad to say about it...but I also wouldn't put it on my "must do next trip" list either.

I agree with everything you said and we celebrated my son's b-day there. But for the folks who have unadventurous tastes it's great!

We have only tried the breakfast so far, although will try the dinner on our next trip.
I thought the food was ok, same as PP's. I would never have paid that much for the breakfast oop, but on the ddp, well worth it.
Remember you're paying for the character experience.

The salad bar is ok. The food is average. Its not great but its good. The atmosphere is the best part.

We love breakfast at CM but dinner...ICK! The food was horrible

You guys are making it hard to keep my reservation. We have eaten breakfast there twice. It was just okay. The kids were way to busy freaking out over the characters. I wanted to try dinner so we wouldn't have to stand in a long line to see the main characters in the parks. But, I don't wanna waste money on "icky" food. Did anyone actually like the dinner food?

I find that there are too many differing opinions on food on DIS to make a decision based on what people here think. I've seen some people hate Chef Mickey's and love Crystal Palace, where as I am the other way around.

We have had supper at Chef Mickey's twice. My wife and I don't care for the food (at best it is Golden Corral quality), but it is one of the first places my girls mention when I ask them where they want to eat. I hear the breakfast is better.

We ate supper at Chrystal Palace last time we were there and we liked the food much more than Chef Mickey's.

That being said, when we return in October we hope to have ADRs for both places. Now, if Chef Mickey's wasn't a character meal, there is no way we would go.
