Chef Mickeys and Wishes???

Just booked airfare and hotel for a getaway with my DD(7)...she is my middle child and needs some special time with mom!!! What could be better than 4 days at WDW without her brother and sister??

My question....our first night there we wanted to go to Chef Mickeys (to get in the mood!!) and then go somewhere to view Wishes. Where should we go??? Is there a viewing area at the Contemporary? Should we take the monorail to Poly and find someplace there? where?

If Wishes is at 8:30 how does a 5:30 PS sound??

All suggestions and info are greatly appreciated. Thanks a ton!!!

We did the Chef Mickeys dinner before Wishes on our first night.
It was great. We had PS for 5:15 with about 15 min wait when we got there. We had plenty of time to do pics and eat then we walked over to Magic Kingdom. That gave us plenty of time to get
to our spot for Wishes.

Sounds like a great night...but we don't have park tickets for that day and were wondering where we could see the fireworks from one of the monorail hotels.

Any ideas??

We just got back from a stay at the Poly and the beach is a great spot to catch Wishes. I would eat then take the monorail to the Poly. Great viewing.

Contemporary also has a viewing area on the 4th floor just past all the shops. Just walk down past the shops and there will be a door that lets you out to a viewing balcony.

If you do this then I think 5:30 would be too early and would make the PS closer to 6:30 for a 8:30 Wishes. But if you aren't staying there and heading over to the beach at the Poly I would go with 5:30 to allow plenty of time.

I was going to keep all of this a secret but I couldn't do it. I spilled to my DD(7) and now we are having a great time making plans together.

We will take a bus from All Star Movies to MK then take the monorail/or walk to the CR for Chef Mickey...I will check out the viewing area on 4th floor then or else we can monorail it over to the Poly.

The only problem then is getting back to the All Star Movies from the Poly. We could cab it or monorail back to MK and take the bus from there.

This is slightly off-topic, but I'm curious how you break it to your other children that you are taking your middle one to Disney? I have been thinking about wanting to take my oldest ds next year for his 10th birthday, just the two of us. Then I'd take my little one when he turns 10. I don't think my little guy (he's 5) could understand the concept and would be very hurt if I left him home.

So, how do you do it??

Actually, my middle child is the last for a special weekend with mom. In May, I took my DS(4) to Texas to visit my sister and her DS(4). We had a great time and did a ton of special things. And coming up in July, I am taking my DD(11) to a long weekend family tennis camp at Gustavus Adolphus College. We will be sleeping in the dorms and playing a ton of tennis, evening programs and swimming too. To make a long story short (hehehe) I have been looking for something very special with my middle child. WHen I found the value resort rates with AAA discount and roundtrip air for 220.00 I decided WDW was a go!!!

I think it is very important to have some special time with each child. It doesn't always have to be tennis camp and WDW but this time that is the way it worked out.
