I need some advice guys 'n' girls :goodvibes

I ve never been to Chef Mickeys before but have seen lots of pics & have read many stories on just how fun it is :thumbsup2

We was originally going to have Mickey & Pluto appear at our wedding reception so we can have lots of pics with them. But its pretty pricey for this, over $1000 for 30 mins with 1 character (according to 1 site anyway) :headache: .

As much as i would love that i just cant really justify spending so much money when it can be spent on other areas of our wedding.

I ve a friend who had their wedding dinner at Chef Mickeys, think there was 9 of them. She kept her wedding dress on, groom was wearing a kilt & she said they had a great time.

My df is a really picky eater, he wont eat anything fancy or thats out of the ordinary. We re planning on having lunch after our reception at GFC which is a bit more of a fancy setting. So we wanted to use restaurants that are either quite elegant ie GFC as well as fun ie Chef Mickeys for both our lunch & dinner meal :woohoo:. That way we re having a good mixture of food & surroundings

I was just wanting to see what everyone who has eaten there thinks of this idea, do you think we ll be too crowded in? My dress is pretty big, there will only be 5 of us at the most so am hoping Chef Mickeys is kinda roomy. Has anyone witnessed couples in their wedding attire at Chef Mickeys

Any advice on this restaurant would be greatly appreciated

I think that would be fun! Now, let me ask...are you saying you would eat dinner at CMs? The same day as your wedding...and you will be lunching at GFC? We have never eaten dinner there, but breakfast at CM's is kind of a last day tradition for us (well, there and Boma...we switch off, LOL.)

I think the dinner menu is pretty straightforward. The great thing about buffets is your DH to be can find a few things he likes and fill up on them.

I am sure if you let CM's know that you will be there in your wedding gown, they will accomodate you....put you at a roomy table. Will it just be the two of you at this meal? You may find it difficult to maneuver the buffet line in your gown, but that is where you chivalrous DH can swoop in and "save the day" by fetching your food for you!:lovestruc

Congrats!

ETA: sorry, i see there will be 5 of you at the table...PLENTY of people to get you your servings on the buffet line! LOL.

That sounds like soooooo much fun :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:. We love Chef Mickey's......we do a breakfast and a dinner there every year ::yes::. As far as the food......great buffet with plenty of variety.....I don't think your DF will have any trouble finding things he likes :goodvibes. Congrats on your wedding and have a fabulous time :dance3:. And I'm sure you will get some awesome pictures :cutie:.

I've never seen a wedding couple at Chef Mickey's, but it is definitely roomy enough to sit the 5 of you.

I think that sounds like so much fun! Have a great time and post pictures when you get back!!

I think that would be so much fun!!! Just make sure you make the arrangements far enough in advance. I usually eat at Chef Mickeys at least once during any stay and this year, for some weird reason, I forgot to make the ressie. When I called to see if they could accomodate 2 people for our trip, there was no availability the entire week of our stay in June. And this was almost 40 days out.

But congratulations on your upcoming wedding and please try and post some pictures!!

Chef Mickey's is our traditional "first-night-dinner" each trip. For us, it's always a fun, magical, and purely-Disney experience. pixiedust:

Although I have not seen a wedding party there, I feel that you should have plenty of room for your dress. Just mention your concern for "needing some space" when you check-in and I'll bet they'll be able to accomodate you! We dined there with a party of 8 one year and had one huge round table - lot's of elbow room!!:thumbsup2

Only one word of caution though.....if you have your heart set on specifically seeing Mickey and Pluto, I don't think that it's a guarantee. The Character Meals will sometimes vary the characters that appear. Since the restaurant bears his namesake, it's pretty certain that Mickey will appear, but Pluto could by iffy?pluto:

I too have never seen a wedding couple in their wedding attire at CM, or anywhere at WDW for that matter, but it sounds like so much fun! Makes me want to marry my husband again! LOL

WDW will make sure there is room for you at your table. Most people are very nice to just marrieds, especially when you're still in your gown. So I think you will find they will make room for you at the buffet line. People are just excited to be near a real live bride!

On a sidenote, right after we left church and before the reception, the limo bus took us to where we met, at Ruby Tuesdays. (we met on a "blind date" set up by mutual friends). It was so cool to walk in with my dress. A couple little girls wanted to have a picture with me, and the sweetest old lady came up and asked to touch my dress. It was great! I felt like a movie star! I think you will find the same thing at CM's too. Just be prepared for lots and LOTS of attention. Live it up, enjoy it, have fun with it. This is your day!

I've never seen a bride there either! There are 3 seating areas, and last time I was there we did ask to move to the area near the podium (roomier) because the small back room had kids bouncing off the walls and we could not even get to and from the table ( but that's just too much sugar & bad parenting). :tiptoe:

ANYWAY...I am sure that kids will be awed by a true bride as much as by the characters, and a picky eater will find plenty to eat, and WDW will try to accomodate a Disney Newlywed and decorate your table and all!:tinker:

It is a fun place!...I did cancel my ressie this year because it was a holiday weekend and the potential for insanity was a bit too high: we opted for Boma, but you might think about LTT or Garden Grill for similar character interaction, but you could stay sitting: it is served family style (No Mickey though.):(

Thanks everyone for all of your advice & best wishes :lovestruc

I was pretty sure it would be a great place to have our dinner meal on our wedding day but just wanted to make sure.

Im really looking forward to going to Chef Mickeys:banana: just as everyone seems to really love it  . I love character interaction plus i know pics of us with them in our wedding attire will look so great:thumbsup2

Think lm gonna really struggle to go up & get food for myself though so like many have said i ll have to relie on my guests to help me eat. Think though that i ll be having so much fun that i probably wont eat too much, that & plus the fact that i ll be frightened of spilling anything down my dress

My only caution to you is that you mentioned wanting a mixture of elegance and fun. Chef Mickey's is fun. but it is NOT elegant! In any way, shape or form!

Chef Mickeys is meant as the "fun" part, we re going there especially to have the pics in our wedding attire with Mickey & Co & to enjoy the light hearted atmosphere :woohoo: . Chef Mickeys is where we ll eat our wedding day dinner before we go on a Wishes cruise. GFC is where we ll be having lunch after our reception which is a more formal elegant location.

I think sugardimples read that you wanted to have a mix of fun and elegance for both lunch and dinner, and that's why he/she commented that CM is not elegant. Maybe he/she didn't see that you would have elegance at GFC and fun at CM. They were just trying to help you and make sure you have a good time!!

When is your wedding?
