Yes they’ve had characters for a while now

They’ve had characters for awhile, as PP mentioned (it was modified/distanced), and just recently returned to non-distanced character interaction.

Are they back to a buffet style breakfast yet and if not, where can I find the current breakfast menu?

Currently still family-style for breakfast and dinner. Current menu on MDE. You could also google some recent review online or YouTube and see the items. The MDE should be pretty up-to-date.

Just saw a review on All Ears Youtube and Molly thought the food at the breakfast was quite good. Only question was whether the character interactions justified the cost.

Another good suggestion of hers was to do rope drop at MK and then to walk over to Chef Mickey's for the latest breakfast time available.

Unless you are BIG breakfast eaters, I don't see $42/adult is worth it. We ate dinner there a few years ago while using the dining plan which made it seem reasonable. The character interaction is clearly part of what you are paying for and young children seem to really enjoy that. We aren't big breakfast eaters, so that price isn't worth it to us.

This is what we did! It worked out well. After eating we sat in the hallway/lobby of the Contemporary for a while and relaxed in A/C which was really nice. We went to the 3rd floor I believe and there were lots of quiet couch areas.
